There seemed to be some bottle necks in terms of PTO allowances that I ran into that cause me to miss out on accruing PTO and the company had to manually refund those. Bamboo allows us to distribute information to our teams that don't have a company email by allowing us to have links to information, forms, and other documents. I like that it it super-intuitive to use (I can usually figure out what I'm trying to do really quickly), it's web-based (not depended on on-prem infrastructure and performance), and it doesn't overwhelm the user with useless information (layout is simple). I do wish they had more sophisticated integrations (I work in IT, and there have been times where I wish it "talked" with our existing systems, primarily Microsoft 365/Entra ID to provide a more seamless experience on the backend; as is, it's effectively a standalone system apart from the rest of our infrastructure). I’ll often think of a question to ask our implementation specialist, but I don’t even have to wait for a response because I can simply refer to the guides they provide and find the answer myself. The only improvement that comes to mind is the onboarding process: it would be great if we could add a company history video directly there. Right now, it seems like you can include a link, but you can’t actually embed the video. That said, this is a minor point compared to the many other great things Bamboo has to offer. For starters, we now have an applicant tracking system, and that alone has helped us maintain a strong pool of talent. We also automated our hiring and onboarding process, which used to be completely manual. Overall, it’s made everything feel more professional and much more streamlined. BambooHR also offers far better reporting than the prior system we were using. On top of that, there’s a great AI feature that’s helpful when we need it, and the customer service is awesome. The reporting tools feel fairly basic, and building custom reports isn’t as flexible as I’d like. Some workflows also take more manual effort than expected; stronger automation would help cut down time spent on repetitive tasks. I’ve also run into system limitations where customization is restricted, especially around approvals and certain HR processes. Another drawback is that some useful features are only available as paid add-ons, which can push the overall cost higher. The mobile app works well for basic tasks, but it doesn’t include all the functionality available on the desktop version. Integrations with other systems could be smoother too, since syncing data occasionally requires manual follow-up. It would be helpful to have a draft option that allows employees to plan and adjust vacation requests before formally submitting them. I definitely find the variety of reports valuable, especially since we are an international company. It gives me access to information on employees from our other divisions around the world, so I'm not completely in the dark when someone asks for information that I would be unable to access with our payroll platform. It's very valuable when I have to work with other divisions globally. I also find the layout easier to use, and there's more comprehensive information than just the standard payroll and HRIS systems. I like BambooHR's very open and aesthetically pleasing interface. I like the way that it allows me to focus on items that are important, while also giving important information to me such as who is currently not in the office today and introducing new employees. It allows HR to post important notices and links to important issues. I also really enjoy the leave accrual calculator, which many other similar products are missing. The main use of BambooHR for the end user is using it for leave, so the other advantages of it (information about other employees, and the directory) are useful, but there is some overlap with information you might receive from other channels (such as Teams or the like). I would probably enjoy more integrations to allow BambooHR to be a more central repository of information rather than a bunch of individual minor services.
