What do you like best about Babel?

The best part about Babel is that the website keeps you up to date on all of the updates and changes made to the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Babel?

Built-in classes such as Date, Array, DOM etc cannot be properly subclassed due to limitations in ES5 (for the transform-classes plugin). You can try to use babel-plugin-transform-builtin-extend based on Object.setPrototypeOf and Reflect.construct, but it also has some limitations Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Babel?

It allows you to use new language features and JSX in your Javascript code without worrying about browser compatibility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It can be really difficult to debug when you have a syntax error because of your configuration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

If you're looking for a Javascript compiler I would definitely recommend Babel. They also have a website, babeljs.io, where you can type in next-gen Javascript and instantly see the output of browser-compatible code, which is pretty neat. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Sometimes the configuration might be a bit confusing. In some small projects you could spend more time configuring your Babel plugins rather than actually coding Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Make sure you are going to need the new JavaScript features. Maybe your project is not big enough to make use of Babel and you can go without the configuration and transpiling phase at the beginning. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
