**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael G. | Michael, a Software Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Azure Service Fabric?**

Azure Service Fabric is seriously special. There are now many competing offers for creating an infrastructure by which one can have a variety of services, such as logging, data storage, API hosting, monitoring, and scalability. Namely, one thinks of Kubernetes, Docker, etc when thinking of container management and competing services such as Google App Engine when thinking of direct competitors. Service Fabric is seriously special because it not only allows you to tie all of these features into a single, easily manage, scalable package, but also because it is incredibly easy to use, and allows you to 'roll-your-own' package in the sense that it is NOT opinionated and does not force you to use any one feature or programming lanaguage.

**What do you dislike about Azure Service Fabric?**

There isn't a lot to dislike - it is simply a system which allows you to use whatever you are comfortable with, and empowers you to scale endlessly given your custom stack. It is the future of ecosystem management.

**What problems is Azure Service Fabric solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pretty much any technological needs - when I worked at Microsoft, we dogfooded service fabric extensively because of its scalability, easy of use, and allowance for any technology. This realizes many benefits - we are putting together many pieces of the puzzle in one place, with guaranteed scalability and performance. Very few other services/offerings can say that.

  ### 5. Not a good tool to use with any project

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eddie D. | Senior Software Engineer at Syngenta Digital, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2019

**What do you like best about Azure Service Fabric?**

I think the only good thing about the project is that they have open sourced the project. But that probably means that Microsoft is dropping support for it.

**What do you dislike about Azure Service Fabric?**

Everything, but especially the Emulator that takes 5 minutes to start up each day. The deployments take at least 30 minutes to go out so that is awful as well. I am currently in the process of migrating away from service fabric and getting the UI into a docker container and a node.js app.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Service Fabric:**

DO NOT USE, AVOID!! I recommend docker for any kind of container or microservice based approach.

**What problems is Azure Service Fabric solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Service Fabric to deploy a set of microservices. This in turn allows us to keep a continuous uptime with our services.

  ### 6. Great micro Service manager

and the provided dashboard is very good.

**What do you dislike about Azure Service Fabric?**

some of the errors you can get from the service fabric are very vague, so you can waste a lot of time trying to understand what happened.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Service Fabric:**

its super easy to use, easy to install and configure, minimal code changes for it to work.
and the provided dashboard is very good. so I recommend it.

**What problems is Azure Service Fabric solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 7. Good product but a bit pricey, especially for Small Businesses

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2019

**What do you like best about Azure Service Fabric?**

Good scalable product that gives a good end user experience. Good performance that scales to your usage.

**What do you dislike about Azure Service Fabric?**

Pricey. Costs can easily get way from you. This, this seems to be more geared to the enterprise than for small businesses. But, this is not surprising for a Microsoft product. The initial account is free, but it seems they are really after the Enterprise clients.

**Recommendations to others considering Azure Service Fabric:**

Do a thorough cost analysis before going to deep into it.

**What problems is Azure Service Fabric solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Testing a client app migration to an Azure environment. Performed better than on prem, of course. Especially when an app requires usage from multiple locations, performance is good.
