Top Rated GitKraken Desktop Alternatives

The feature Git Kraken provides to regularize git repositories is very user-friendly. The GUI for git graph analytics and other GitHub service management such as git PR, merge, pull, push, rebase is simply outstanding. There was a time when I faced a lot of difficulties managing git branches and the versions. After I learned to use Git Kraken, everything felt buttery smooth and easy as water flow. Again while collaborating with peer colleagues, I consistently have to switch, merge and rebase different branches.
Furthermore, using only the Git terminal seems so old-school and annoying. Moreover, Only using the Git terminal can be intimidating and troublesome as we can not track the Git graphs in real-time. In Git Kraken, I can continuously switch between different branches and consistently pull, push and merge updates from other branches, which is close to impossible using the git terminal. Again, the smoothness and the flexibility Git Kraken provides boosts my productivity 1000 times more than using the traditional git terminal. Again, while asking for a pull request, Git Kraken can do it in a button click where the git terminal can take it hours at times. So, as a Software Engineer, I can not but think of using my day without using Git Kraken nowadays because GitHub has become such a massive part of my life, and to manage such a workflow, Git Kraken is a must for me. I think the configuration procedure of Git Kraken. is a bit confusing and intimidating. I faced problems several times while connecting Git Kraken with my GitHub, as well as the BitBucket account. First of all, the device-specific RSA key configuration is very troublesome because I could not connect to my GitHub using Git Kraken's built-in RSA configuration system. Thus I had to configure the Git Kraken with my GitHub manually, which was annoying and time-consuming. Nevertheless, connecting to the remove requires a second step configuration where I had to add the remote repository's ssh url, which doesn't make any sense in the pull, push, and PRs. Nevertheless, the preferences tab is very buggy as well as laggy, which takes a lot of time to load and hampers productivity. In my case, it takes at least 30 seconds to load the settings and preferences tab, which I find very intimidating. Again while managing pull requests at times Git Kraken creates unnecessay issues which is confusing and hampers development productivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

My favorite thing about GitKraken Client is its intuitive user interface. This makes Git easy to learn and use, even for beginners. I also appreciate powerful visualization tools, which help me understand my Git history and spot potential conflicts. Additionally, GitKraken Client’s merge and conflict resolution tools are top-notch, simplifying even the most complex conflict resolution. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
My only real dislike about GitKraken Client is that some of its features are only available in the paid version. For example, the ability to create and manage private repositories is only available in the paid version. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

- GitKraken is undoubtedly great tool for GIT GUI. However, you cannot use more of the features after the 14 days free trial is over.
- However buying the Pro version is worthwhile. It's only $4.95/user/month. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I've a savvy Git commandline user, however I like GitKraken for making my life easier in my day-to-day code review tasks.
It also helps my employees to learn Git commands, while doing things from GitKraken UI (it shows Git commands behind UI actions, so one could learn Git CLI mch faster) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
* It might get quite slow on bigger repositories
* Pricing tiers a little bit confusing
* Inability to hide GitKraken Dashboard/Projects completely Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It was my entry point to the git protocol, been a user since. Right now it's not an entry level product (I recommend for you to learn GIT before hand, if not youll miss a lot of functionality). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
They changed the loading screen, also dismissed kanban boards Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Gitkraken is the best tool to manage the GitHub repositories and code using their user-friendly UI. The visualization they provide for all different branches and code updates is really useful for our day-to-day programming life. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Gitkraken is already the best tool ever for version control but yes there are some things they can improve on:
- Authorization part for cloning private Github repositories sometimes creates Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Gitkraken is a nice git client. You can easily manage your projects using it. It has a nice new functions, like GLO (it is like Trello). So you can easily connect your project to this boards.
I love this function because since I'm using it I can´t forget anything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only think I don't like at all is about pricings. The software has a free option and a paid one. I don't like the prices at all. It should be included, for instance in GitHub payments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The most helpful feature would be the visual tree. It is a great representation of your branches/commit history and helps you visualize everything quite easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Gitkraken offers a lot for the user, though it was initially a bit overwhelming having everything at your fingertips represented by icons. I quickly have gotten used to the features and their corresponding icons. The only real downside is that private repos are only accessible with the paid tier. The UI makes it so clear that I would recommend this for beginners who are still learning the git basics, it helped me a lot to visualize branches and understand some concepts when I was learning them Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I feel like the price is a bit too much, maybe if you could come up with cheaper plans that use less features such as the Boards or the Workspaces that some people (including me) don't even use Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Their interface is clean, modern, and very easy to use as it is very structured. It is a much better version than the regular git clients you can get for free. I find it very easy to go back in history and look at the changes as well as review the commits that were made. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing that I was able to come across yet. It might be a little difficult to navigate if you are used to some other applications to view your git tree, but it is not a big learning curve at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
THe integration of gitkraken with windows and connection to Gitlab and Github is super efficient and easy to use, although it requires sone technical setup initially to have the pull and push request work without issues Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The technical requirement of the seetup and use make it challenging at some points.
Also with no direct visibility on the live go on Github/lab; you need to make sure you have proper backups to be able to recover Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
