## About AWS Greengrass
AWS Greengrass is software that lets you run local compute, messaging, data caching, sync, and ML inference capabilities for connected devices in a secure way. With AWS Greengrass, connected devices can run AWS Lambda functions, keep device data in sync, and communicate with other devices securely – even when not connected to the Internet. Using AWS Lambda, Greengrass ensures your IoT devices can respond quickly to local events, use Lambda functions running on Greengrass Core to interact with local resources, operate with intermittent connections, stay updated with over the air updates, and minimize the cost of transmitting IoT data to the cloud. ML Inference is a feature of AWS Greengrass that makes it easy to perform machine learning inference locally on Greengrass Core devices using models that are built and trained in the cloud. AWS Greengrass seamlessly extends AWS to devices so they can act locally on the data they generate, while still using the cloud for management, analytics, and durable storage. With Greengrass, you can use familiar languages and programming models to create and test your device software in the cloud, and then deploy it to your devices. AWS Greengrass can be programmed to filter device data and only transmit necessary information back to the cloud. AWS Greengrass authenticates and encrypts device data at all points of connection using the security and access management capabilities of AWS IoT Core. This way, data is never exchanged between devices when they communicate with each other and the cloud, without proven identity.

What I like most about AWS IoT Greengrass is its ability to extend AWS services to edge devices and process data locally with low latency. It integrates well with the AWS ecosystem and helps manage IoT deployments more efficiently, especially in distributed environments.

**What do you dislike about AWS Greengrass?**

One downside of AWS IoT Greengrass is that the initial setup and configuration can be complex, especially for users new to AWS IoT services. Troubleshooting deployments and managing permissions across devices can also take time in large-scale environments.

One downside of AWS Greengrass is the learning curve associated with it, to be able to use it to its full potential, we need to understanding it completely.

AWS Greengrass redefines edge computing by mitigating delays through local processing, guaranteeing smooth operations in low-connectivity scenarios, reinforcing security and privacy measures, and streamlining scalability and cost-effectiveness. Its adaptability, driven by custom Lambda functions, allows for personalized solutions tailored to a variety of edge computing applications.

**What do you like best about AWS Greengrass?**

Having experimented with various edge computing solutions, AWS Greengrass stands out for numerous reasons:

Local Execution: Greengrass allows for seamless local execution of Lambda functions. This makes edge decisions lightning-fast, reducing the need for round trips to the cloud.

Device Sync: Even with intermittent connections, Greengrass ensures device data syncs whenever connectivity is restored. This has been invaluable for our remote deployments.

Integrated with AWS: Being in the AWS ecosystem, it offers effortless integration with other AWS services, streamlining our operations.

ML Inference at the Edge: For AI-centric operations, Greengrass enables local ML inference, optimizing performance while reducing costs.

Nothing as such. Everything is up to the mark.

AWS Greengrass helped me do edge processing and build a robust IoT system. I have been using it for thousands of devices and it is a really scalable and reliable service.

I like the way it is that comprehensive and we don't need to use any other service for deployment and programming.Also customer support is very good.

I think the prices are bit high but it is acceptable

I am programming iot based application and want to deploy it on cloud and it has been very convinient to use AWS green grass.

**What do you like best about AWS Greengrass?**

AWS IoT Greengrass is an AWS cloud service for the Internet of things(IoT) that helps users to build and manage IoT device software. It allows big businesses to transmit huge data to the cloud and manage it so as to reduce storage and data migration costs.

**What do you dislike about AWS Greengrass?**

Even though AWS IoT Greengrass is a long sophisticated tool for IoT app development it still lacks in terms of environment disk space provided which is almost 512MB.

**What problems is AWS Greengrass solving and how is that benefiting you?**

AWS Greengrass allows the deployment of lambda modules directly to your devices. We can deploy configure and manage every aspect of the application remotely. AWS Greengrass also supports multiple languages runtimes and packaging tech which means there is not a long learning curve when understanding Greengrass.

I like the fact that it is very easy to build, maintain and deploy the applications using AWS IoT. I also like its compatibility in integrating with the other tools.

It might be bit difficult to master the usage as a newbie in cloud technologies

**What problems is AWS Greengrass solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It provides a runtime to build and maintain the device software, it helps to maintain IoT software without having a physical connection to the device. It also provides several services to accelerate some development, which I find quite helpful while development.

To manage the function codes to be deployed, monitoring of the devices and getting the role access to s3 without static keys

**What do you like best about AWS Greengrass?**

i have been using it for 2-3 years , it's a software  platform for running local compute , data cashing on connected devices ,  the best part about AWS greenGrass is you can process device data locally even if the device is temporarily disconnected , you can say it as an advanced version of AWS IOT, it's one of the best service for lambda execution on IOT devices which provides event driven compute functions in response to an action . 

**What do you dislike about AWS Greengrass?**

comparing with AWS IOT it's little bit hard to learn , and quality of support is not so good!!

**Recommendations to others considering AWS Greengrass:**

It's a widely used and affordable AWS service for IOT and lambda execution on smart devices out there in the world , it's one of the coolest service of AWS for IOT solution s  !!

we use AWS GreenGrass for developing cloud based IOT solutions  !!

**What do you like best about AWS Greengrass?**

What I really like about AWS Greengrass is that reduce latency between the devices and data processing layer, reduce bandwidth costs involved in ingesting large amount of data to the cloud and the compliance and security by retaining the sensitive data locally.

**What do you dislike about AWS Greengrass?**

There are some limitations that I see in AWS Greengrass. Lack of local storage in the form of object storage (S3) or a NoSQL database (DynamoDB) forces customers to adopt an unusual pattern of using device shadows for storing telemetry data. This approach is not the most intuitive way of storing and processing data locally.

**What problems is AWS Greengrass solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**What do you like best about AWS Greengrass?**

i have been using AWS Greengrass for 2-3 years , traditionally for building Iot solutions we need to use AWS IOT which was not reliable,secure and efficient when compare to AWS Greengrass ,and the best part about it that it provides you a  cloud less solution ,so that latency and connectivity was improved drastically , GreenGrass can run completely offline at low latency and in completely private environment you can send your data to AWS when you need it , using Lambda you can have compute operation at the edge on your hardware , it's very easy to scale up with greengrass group! !    

**What do you dislike about AWS Greengrass?**

The quality of support is not so good , other than it all things are good!!

**Recommendations to others considering AWS Greengrass:**

It's just an extension of AWS IOT , it;s really easy to use service to develop cloudless IOT solutions ,it uses GGC (GreeGrassCore) which uses your device's memory storage and peripherals!!

we're using it for 2-3 years for building Scale able IOt solutions for Softing!!

**What do you like best about AWS Greengrass?**

AWS Greengrass is used integrated with AWS IoT . By using AWS Greengrass , we can deploy the lambda functions locally which will sync with the cloud when connected with the internet . By locally deploying to the device , the main benefit is that everytime device doesn't have to go to cloud for decision making , it can take decision by itself.

**What do you dislike about AWS Greengrass?**

Very less programming language  supports  AWS Greengrass and we can deploy using only AWS Greengrass only which is major drawback . We should be able to deploy to device using our local PC .

**Recommendations to others considering AWS Greengrass:**

AWS is best in the cloud market . As it is not cost effective and provides a very good documentation for understanding the working of AWS Greengrass .

Various problems where net connectivity is a issue , where device have to take decisions locally without cloud and when it connects to cloud than invoke lambda function .

**What do you like best about AWS Greengrass?**

AWS Greengrass extends the services of AWS on a local device .  The data is generated locally and still using the cloud for management and analytics . We can also filter data from the local device and send the necessary data to the cloud .  AWS Greengrass also encrypts the data from the device . We can also use AWS Lambda function locally by creating developing functions in cloud and deploying them locally . 

**What do you dislike about AWS Greengrass?**

Main disadvantage of AWS Greengrass is that we need a secure and reliable internet connection because to deploy the greengrass we need to have a active internet connection . 

**Recommendations to others considering AWS Greengrass:**

Frst understand how does the cloud services work than go for AWS Greengrass  . And also local device should support greengrass core . The internal memory of the IoT device must also be able to hold the load of greengrass core .  To sync the device to the cloud , user must have

As Greengrass devices can act locally on the data so the process of decision making becomes faster . And also Greengrass core is installed on the local device , the resources like CPU power is also used locally . so no need of using the resources of cloud .

**What do you like best about AWS Greengrass?**

AWS Greengrass is a breakthrough in IoT industry , as it is used to deploy application locally using Greengrass console which has a very simple UI to deploy . We have to select the device processor and than we have to just follow the installation steps to install the Greengrass core which is the integral part of Greengrass . As it interacts with cloud and contains lambda functions and it also interacts with cloud when conected to internet .

**What do you dislike about AWS Greengrass?**

We have to deploy through cloud , if the device is in remote location and there is no internet connection , how we will be able to deploy . And we can use selected features of lambda functions through Greengrass as it in developing phase .

**What problems is AWS Greengrass solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have connected the sensors which are connected to our device . The device is used to measure the pollution at traffic signal and when it passes certain limit it will invoke lambda function and pass it to cloud .

We can install the greengrass core in our IOT device and that can interact with AWS IoT Cloud (when connected to internet)and AWS Lambda  which provides us the functionality to use the features locally without connecting to the cloud

As Greengrass was integrated in AWS last year only , so it has less library for support . Currently it only has python and NodeJS support . And We can only deploy greengrass core Using Python

We doesn't need to connect to internet as it allows us to compute locally and sync the data as the local device is connected to internet .

I haven't been using AWS Greengrass for too long (under a year), but have used it mostly for IOT solutions. It is reliable and I love having this at my fingertips.

I wish the support was better. I often have questions and feel that I can't get them answered directly or quickly enough.

Try to take full advantage of its capabilities! It is a good service and you can do a lot with it.

We want to scale our company, so we are using it for that.

AWS Greengrass is very simple to use and is applicable in a wide variety of use cases. One of my former colleagues has actually developed some very cool home automation projects using GG. Eager to see this product continue to evolve.

Could be more opportunities to develop more of a partner ecosystem and integrated solutions with other technologies.

I like being able to deploy to hardware.. It is flexible in many features and deployment modes.

**What do you dislike about AWS Greengrass?**

I don't like the pricing model, it's a little too aggesive. It would be better to have a more flexible pricing structure.

Trying to connect hardware in the field. We wanted a gateway for connected products.

I've found that AWS Greengrass is really ideal when working with items in my IOT. It's really easy to connect be Raspberry Pi and Intel Edison to process data from projects. 

**What do you dislike about AWS Greengrass?**

I have not found much that I dislike about AWS Greengrass or any better alternatives. 

**What problems is AWS Greengrass solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've been able to connect my desired devices in side projects and at hackathons in order to process the necessary data.

**What do you like best about AWS Greengrass?**

Aws Greengrass is the major breakthrough for aws iot as we can deploy services locally on the device  and it's not necessary for the device to be connected to internet.  And it will sync automatically to internet to update the cloud about the status of the device

**What do you dislike about AWS Greengrass?**

Major drawback is that  many libraries do not support aws greengrass . And for arm only python language is used.

We had deployed services locally and that services invoke lambda function when required which is very helpful when device is offline
