Product Description

Auvik makes network management easier. By automating and simplifying network management, Auvik’s cloud-based software improves the efficiency and capacity of IT teams and helps protect their business from network risk. Today, Auvik helps IT teams establish true visibility and efficiency across more than four million devices on over 55,000 networks worldwide.

How do you position yourself against your competitors?

Traditional network management systems aren’t designed to deploy quickly and aren’t easy to use or understand. Many systems require an IT pro to purchase expensive on-premises hardware and software for every location they manage and hire a full-time employee to learn, understand, and use the system. The existing systems aren’t designed with today’s networks in mind.

With Auvik, it’s completely different. Our cloud-based network management software can be deployed in minutes, and its simple, intuitive interface can be used by even the most junior technician on an IT team. It doesn’t require deep network knowledge to use and it’s designed to scale with a business.

What do you like best about Auvik?

The network map and data is very useful when troubleshooting specific network issues. The support team has always been responsive to our questions and even set up a virtual training call for our company. We deploy Auvik for all of our new fully managed clients. The collector can be installed either as a Windows Service, as a Virtual Appliance using an OVA file import, or using a Bash script install for Ubuntu users. The system requirements are minimal, and we rarely see issues with the collectors once they are running. We also like how you can create single or multiple sites for each client, depending on your needs. Setting up device connections via SNMP community strings is simple, and automatically pulls a plethora of data from your devices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Auvik?

The alerting portion could use some more in-depth walkthroughs for ease of use. Also, the details on connecting custom OID's could be more in-depth. One of the issues we had originally is that our account was set by default to sync with our ITGlue account, and it was using IP addresses as unique identifiers. As devices on DHCP changed addresses, we kept getting duplicate entries in ITGlue. However, we were able to change this method to use MAC addresses and haven't seen issues since. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Auvik:

The support team is very responsive and helpful. Don't be afraid to reach out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Auvik solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have been using Auvik for approximately 3-4 years now. We are using to to help discover and organize our client networks, as well as for monitoring networks, troubleshooting issues, and historical connection data. It has frequently saved us time when trying to narrow down the root cause of an issue. We've been able to pinpoint issues down to the switch-port level. It has allowed us to solve issues remotely without needing an onsite visit, as well as making needed onsite visits shorter and less painful. We have been able to point a remote user to a specific switch in a separate building IDF in order to remotely restore network connectivity without requiring an onsite visit. This allowed for a better use of resources from the MSP side, as well as a quicker resolution for the client, which made them happy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Auvik?

Auvik is an easy to use cloud based monitoring system. It allows us to watch over our clients networks and hardware devices that our traditional RMM cannot easily do. It creates topology maps that are fairly accurate based on the data it is given. With integrations into our Connectwise PSA we are alerted to any trouble conditions we need to know about, hopefully before it becomes a major issue. It gives us Role Based Access Control for our engineers to give them the proper access to the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Auvik?

While the ease of use its a great thing, and easy for our engineers to learn, it also limits some of our abilities. The alerting engine only has its own predefined settings for how many times in an hour before resetting the alert, etc. I cannot customize those fields. Also if Auvik does not have the SNMP settings in their discovery engine, you will get very limited data from some equipment. You can add your own OID fields to monitor, however it will only alert on status changes and not give you any historical data. (For example iDRAC or ILO status of Server hardware, Disk statuses of a SAN for instance.) It would be nice if you could get historical data besides the predefined graphs and reports Auvik already provides for hardware. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Auvik solving and how is that benefiting you?

Auvik has allowed us greater visibility into our clients network and hardware devices. With the proper setup and alerts, we are being more proactive to "failures" that may be occurring. This allows us to fix issues before they become major problems. It also allows us to watch some trending behaviors of networks (like if an ISP is continually dropping packets) or high traffic on certain segments of a network. map view can sometimes get a little messy Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Auvik:

it is a great system to implement, and once you supply the needed creds and networks to scan, it makes life easy for showing a logical map of the network.

this is an excellent advantage to network troubleshooting Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Auvik solving and how is that benefiting you?

We use it to scan SNMP traps for all devices so i can message OID from switches and other products that don't easily give you this information from their GUI Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Auvik, the product and their team have been great to deal with. A honest pleasure to talk to anyone their. Price point is very high and so we must past cost on to clients. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Auvik solving and how is that benefiting you?

clear and transparent view of our clients networks. This is unbelievably helpful with onboarding customers as a audit tool, or makeing techs familiar with a site they don't frequent. Its alerting and notifications ties seamlessly into our RMM and PSA platforms as well (ConnectWise/Automate). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Auvik?

The visualizations and the ability to drill-down into almost everything monitored. Granted, it lacks some insights on a few devices, but you can add the OID you need when that happens, which so far has been rare. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Auvik?

I do wish it had better support for Microsoft Hyper-V. It does work, and it does monitor and report back, but not on the VM features, just the Windows Server features. Price is a bit high per monitored device, but there is a benefit in that many critical devices are monitored at no charge (i.e NAS, Cameras, Access Points) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Auvik:

Definitely take it for a test drive. You will really appreciate the near-instant network diagram capability. Althought the PDF Export feature could use some work, it is very valuable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Auvik solving and how is that benefiting you?

For me, we monitor enterprise networks, and about a large variety of small business networks. And having SNMP-enabled devices on-site monitored by the Auvik system allows me literally change my support focus with a drop-down menu to the next client in line.

For some of the larger L2/L3 systems we have to take on, having the "Detected MisConfigurations" available is helpful, although it doesnt know when some UTMs/Firewalls are using an HA link 4095 VLAN, but not a major problem in any respect. The filtering/drilling down to the device, MAC address, IP address, Interface name and ID< Uptime reporting, Packet reporting, and many other features make it a major improvement over configuring something like Paessler(which is great also, but too much work) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Auvik?

The interface is extremely smooth and user friendly, anyone with basic network understanding will be able to navigate and understand the network topology. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Auvik?

Some of the automation takes over, and when you want to edit or delete certain things, it won't let you. However Auvik support is consantly changing and updating features to allow this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Auvik solving and how is that benefiting you?

Auvik's network scans have helped keep an updated database of active systems, with helpful info like switchport location, VLANs, and software versions. The alerting system can use webhooks that makes software integration very simple. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
