I use Autodesk Forma as our centralized CDE environment for BIM projects and IDC/IDR workflows. I appreciate how it keeps all project-related files in one place while allowing multiple team members to work on a file simultaneously. I also like having the option to see the file activity history, which helps us retrieve a version of the file along every sync or save action. Additionally, the notifications sent to specific team members when a workflow is completed are helpful because they eliminate the need to constantly follow up with other disciplines about whether a file has been published. The Desktop Connector could be more reliable, as sync errors and freezing are common. When saving a CAD file, the way the priority is handled for syncing and updating other projects freezes. I like the user-friendliness of Autodesk Forma. The Autodesk connector is a wonderful tool that ensures everything is synced properly, which helps our team to complete tasks quicker and more efficiently. There are fewer files being exchanged via rudimentary methods such as emails because everything is accessible to those designated via Autodesk Docs. I wish there was a way to open a file read-only and then check out the drawing after the fact. Too many times there’s been an instance where I’ve accidentally opened a file read-only, made a ton of changes and then had to copy everything that I fixed before closing and reopening that file as check-out. It’s not the end of the world but definitely something that is annoying. I think just allowing the user to check out a drawing file after it’s been opened as read-only is a good way to start. It can be done with double verification because often times people open a file read-only to intentionally not make any changes, but if sometimes changes are intentional, it’s nice to not have to jump through hoops to sync it. I find it convenient that the project manager can view the Revit model from Autodesk Forma. It is also handy that the technicians on the construction site have the drawings and there are no loose drawings lying around. The approval procedures are good and useful for audits, and they provide assurance that everything on the construction site is approved. Setting up Autodesk Forma was easy, with help from Cadac. The Specifications are not working well, there is still a lot to improve here. With specifications, it is very cumbersome to get all the data in correctly, too much needs to be filled in. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I appreciate Autodesk Forma for its exceptional combination of user-friendliness and a wide range of features. I can manage everything I need on one single platform, including data storage, communication, scheduling, and meeting management. Some extensions are still not fully functional. Editing word documents sometimes leaves them locked for other users. Meeting templates are still crude, as only higher level stuff can be saved as a template. I consider these minor nuisances. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use Autodesk Forma for the development, hosting, sharing, and collaboration on our A&E projects. I appreciate how this platform provides a single source for sharing and collaboration while allowing different levels of access and permissions. I really like the continuous development that Autodesk continues to provide for Forma. As a multi-disciplined team, it's helpful to have tools in Forma that support us from Design Development through Construction, and I see that these improvements have developed over time and with different versions of the cloud solutions. I am not satisfied with the design of the field tool in Build, as I find it lacking in user friendliness. From my perspective, there is a lot of potential for improvement, particularly in making the tool easier to use. It is clear that ACC was originally intended for engineers, and now there is an attempt to adapt it for construction or installation workers with the field tool in Build. However, the current design and layout still fall short of what is needed. I strongly believe that working closely with a user experience (UX) group could help make the field tool more intuitive and accessible for those who will actually be using it on the job. We don’t have granular administration controls by module or by tool. It’s basically all-or-nothing: you’re either a project admin or you’re not. That lack of role granularity really limits how we can manage the platform, especially at scale. Also, there are many different data regions which cannot be linked (bridged) together. I really like that Autodesk Construction Cloud provides a single source of truth and an all-in-one platform. Having everyone work on the same platform, including consultants and contractors, makes collaboration so much smoother. It's great that I can quickly locate, access, and utilize documents and data without the hassle of managing multiple storage spaces.
