**What do you like best about Aspen HYSYS?**

Aspen HYSYS is a versatile process simulator. You can simulate any chemical process with different cases. It has a wide range of thermodynamic packages and compounds are available for different needs. The specialized processes like amine, HF, and hydrogen correction can be embedded in the process to get more accurate results. Different types of optimization, sensitivity analysis, Thermophysical data, and curves can be obtained for a wide range of process parameters. Recycle option is there which is not available in aspen plus. Unit operations for refineries are available in HYSYS. Crude assay and petroleum characteristics are more relevant than other simulators. Energy optimization, capital cost estimators, and Pinch analysis can be done with just one click. The help menu is very useful to get the theory behind various options available.

**What do you dislike about Aspen HYSYS?**

The user interface and selection of thermodynamic packages are very confusing. One needs to be an expert in thermodynamics before doing any modification. For custom packages, primitive computer language like FORTRAN is used. Unlike open-source simulator DWSIM, Calculation steps and equations are hidden from the user.

**Recommendations to others considering Aspen HYSYS:**

If you are an expert and want to get an in-depth understanding of the process which is very near to the real plant use HYSYS only. 
If you are a novice my suggestion would use another open-source easy-to-use software that builds a base for advanced simulation.

**What problems is Aspen HYSYS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am using aspen HYSYS for a better understanding of the effect of the process parameters on the chemical process. Hysys provide a range of studies to get in-depth knowledge of parameter vs variable. I realized that by using HYSYS, I can get a more in-depth view of process variable with changes in parameters. Help menu is there if i want to understand the theory behind the calculation which helps to get more insight.

**What do you like best about Aspen HYSYS?**

Aspen HYSYS Software is very useful software provided by aspen tech and it is best for simulation purposes especially for oil and gas processes. With this software, I do simulation on heat exchanger, distillation, compressor, absorber, pump, reactor and so many things and you can also find the property of the liquid and gas mixture at various parameter.also we can do the sensitivity analysis and optimisation.

**What do you dislike about Aspen HYSYS?**

Everything is fine about the Aspen HYSYS software, but sometimes it gives run time error and also taking a long time to run the simulation.

One should always try Aspen HYSYS Software one who looking for the process simulater which help you to understand the process plant, properties and effects of parameters.

Generally, using Aspen HYSYS  I do simulation on various processes like distillation, Absorber, and heat exchanger and many more process units and also I can find properties of different compositions with different parameters. And process optimisation.

Aspen Hysys provides best and easy interface to simulate processes used in refinery operation. Along with that it also helps in sensitivity analysis and properties generation used in modelling.

Many times it abruptly stops working after not responding page and also the backup is not available thereafter. Run time error faced during simulation is also cumbersome at times.

Chemical engineering working in the area of process design must try this as it eases a lot of day to day stuff happening in refinery. User interface is also friendly and makes it easy for the new leraners to learn quickly.

Process simulation has been my main purpose of using Aspen Hysys. Physical parameter generation, process optimization, ecomoic analysis and efficiency check are the areas where I uses the most.

I recommend this excellent program for those people who are faced with the oil and gas treatment system as it solves many issues and helps to obtain the desired result at the stage of modeling and selection.

This program allows you to create an optimal system for the preparation of petroleum products based on the composition and conditions. As a result, we get the result that we want to highlight at the output. Having simulated the training system for this program, we can easily start implementing this scheme in production.

That was my first time when I went to use it. Due to it's simple layout and lots of helping features I was able to make  a process flow diagram easily ,to do graphs and to go for analysis of designs and equipment. It's working efficiency with high accuracy makes me more positive to use it again and again.

it's expensive nature of Cost nothing else. It's powerful interface ,features and benefit's makes it more fascinating.

To optimize the Gas Dehydration unit and to the  study of "Tri-ethylene Glycol" loss in the process of GDU. with the help of this software I found the specific reason of losing the quantity of 'TEG' (Tri-ethylene glycol) during Gas dehydration process . This software made me able to optimize the whole 'GDU' unit for controlling the "TEG" loss during GDU process.

I like the speed up and slow down option availablity when we are using controo systems to look at the change in values of plant.

Well i have found the poor performance of heat exchanger when i was doing my final year thesis and i found the o through Aspen Hysys which was leakage issue in heat exchanger which affeacted the heat transfer rate.

this application help me to simulate gas processing and distillation process. also easy to calculate the capacity of cooling water needed for heat exchanger. The interfaced used is easy to understood, even by a colleaguer.

It is easy get lost and overwhelmed with all of the information given to you in the program. It is important to take your time with it and really understand all of its components for a s successful simulation.

Take your time with the software. At first it will be overwhelming, however take your time familiarizing yourself with the software. Once you understand how everything works you will be Well on your way in simulating real chemical processes.

I used HYSYS for my fourth year capstone projects. I used it to simulate a wastewater treatment process. My group and I developed the process, configured the different pieces of equipment and optimized the process to clean the required amount of  industrial water.

Aspen Hysys has the best tools to simulate oil and gas processes, it is really a very complete software, with Hysys I have been able to carry out all kinds of processes, from compressor plant designs to hydrocarbon distribution network designs, one of the main functions for which I use this software is the dynamic way in which it shows the simulations, it is really wonderful to observe the complete process in a simulator, in addition to showing exact final results and with minimal errors, unlike other software where the results They are often questionable, Aspen Hysys has a robust interface but it is wonderful when you learn how to use it.

**What do you dislike about Aspen HYSYS?**

I do not find anything that I dislike about this software, but for many people it could be expensive to obtain it, however I consider that it is worth what it costs due to its high capacities to create designs and simulate processes with real results.

I recommend this software to all Process Engineers, Educators and Organizations in the framework of Industrial Processes because the results are truly incredible.

Personally Aspen Hysys is a favorite simulation software, in my Hydrocarbon Distribution Network projects, the hydraulic evaluation of the pipes is specified in a meticulous way and takes the velocity profile along the pipe, the increase in speed, If there is pressure drop due to friction, it also makes a thorough evaluation of the erosion rate, I really love it because it shows if the speeds of the pipe exceed the design standards and thus we can ensure its useful life and avoid future problems. That is how thorough it is and for all processes it provides real results, which is what is sought when simulating industrial processes.

**What do you like best about Aspen HYSYS?**

Its first feature that highlights this software in its latest version is the extensive database with available thermodynamic models as well as a wide and detailed database of substance properties and parameters for many mixtures. Its optimizer allows to carry out sensitivity analysis in a much more precise way. Best of all is the way you perform calculations with forward and backward spread of variables.

**What do you dislike about Aspen HYSYS?**

Sometimes your way of calculating can be problematic because the variable propagation method sometimes causes convergence problems if the calculation engine is not turned off when the flowchart is being completed. This forces you to keep track of the available degrees of freedom. However, this can be controlled if handled properly

It is recommended for those engineers, designers or companies that wish to have a very powerful process simulator that is very easy to learn. In addition, its database is very extensive and thus covers a wide range of engineering simulations

With this program it is possible to carry out a complete simulation of the production processes that we wish to carry out maintenance or consider industrial operations and thus with energy integration we can analyze the study processes in a more integrative way. In other words, estimations and predictions can be made in a very comprehensive way, saving us a lot of mathematical and thermodynamic calculations.

Sometimes it wont converge because the fluid package wasnt the right fit.

It has many features and options that make it increasingly innovative with each version that is released. Its optimizer is very powerful and also has an integration progressing in the CAPE standard and also has an interface that is quite user-friendly and is very visually representative.

The price is a bit higher than similar software on the market, but its ease of use makes it worthy of that price in some way.

**What do you like best about Aspen HYSYS?**

Aspen Hysys is a simulator that responds to many chemical processes in the oil and natural gas processing industry, different sectors have benefited from this simulator for years, and it is always one of the best options for creating design and simulation processes. For example, simulate a distillation tower, a dehydration plant, etc. Since Aspen added Hysys to its product portfolio, I am more inclined to use it, because it has improved significantly, this simulator is one of my favorites as it shows me the simulated process in a stable and dynamic state, that is, that for my presentations of projects, it allows me to dynamically show the movements in the process so that the jury sees what I really want to solve.

**What do you dislike about Aspen HYSYS?**

It has nothing that I dislike. I think it has a complete package and a powerful interface that will allow you to have the best of the processes with all its parameters and indicators.

I always recommend Aspen Hysys to everyone who works with industrial chemical processes and industrial processes such as oil and gas, it is the best tool for process design and evaluation, process optimization. It's great

**What problems is Aspen HYSYS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Aspen Hysys for me is a very powerful simulator, with a very powerful interface that not everyone can use without prior explanation or have had contact with a similar simulator, but once you become familiar with its processes you will realize that it is easy and the best option to observe the processes, with Aspen Hysys I love to simulate because when you are designing a process from scratch, if you are missing a parameter it indicates in red that you have not placed it or the range in which the parameter should be, it happened to me that When simulating a fractionation tower, in which two streams of rich gas are mixed, the energy stream had to be placed in the heat exchanger in addition to giving it specifications within the exchanger, which in PRO II is an internal variable of the process, and the Aspen Hysys simulator just didn't run, but the simulator is very friendly and would tell me what was missing, immediately upon connecting the power stream, I could continue with the simulation now yes successively. turning a stream rich in C3 + which was the main reason I was simulating. It is one more quality of Hysys since you correct everything on the way, with the green and red traffic light it is great, because it indicates how well you are in the process, it is very annoying those simulators that end the process and you run the simulation tells you that everything is fine and the final results are not what you want and you must start modifying parameters, that does not happen with Aspen Hysys.

Hysys has been an integral part for my simulation projects. The simulation results are very precise and pilot results are also very much inline. I've used it for distillation columns and single fixed bed reactors.

The user interface could be a little better.

Used it for single fixed bed reactors and distillation column design. The height of the packed column and size of the reactor required for an organic synthesis were simulated correctly.

**What do you like best about Aspen HYSYS?**

The program allows for a wide range of simulations that can allow you to perform simple tasks that are normally repetitive as well as extremely in depth optimisation on specific parts of a process, allowing you to see what changes in the system might impact.

**What do you dislike about Aspen HYSYS?**

The software itself does have a dated looking user interface however this is a very minor issue. The program it’s self could be more user friendly to newcomers as figuring the system out initially can be very daunting.

I used ASPEN to run simulations of stripping and absorbing columns i was optimising for my design project, allowing me to make changes the system without redoing my entire calculations.

The layout was easy to understand and create. There were a lot of inbuilt equations that I could use.

Customer service was a little poor. When I encountered a problem, they helped at first. But when I could not solve the problem using the first suggestions, the customer care response had become much slower.

I am trying to model the use of Molecular sieves for CO2 absorption used in the natural gas drying process. The process and design was easy to accomplish.

Blowdown analysis tool which they have newly introduced is more accurate to do staggered RO size calculations and finding the minimum temperature at discharge of RO especially for Adiabatic cold case.

For dense phase it still needs work as it keeps flipping from 0 to 1 for denser gas phase.

Aspen HYSYS has helped me in do dynamic calculations for compressor settle out conditions. It benefitted me to finalize my anti surge valve data sheets and verifying vendor data.

**What do you like best about Aspen HYSYS?**

I love that I am able to do complex simulations with this program.  I also love that I can do graphs and analysis of designs/equipment.  HYSYS saves more so much time and work much more efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Aspen HYSYS?**

It takes a long time to load the program and other things.  Also can be confusing when things don't converge and I don't know what to do.  Can be a bit complicated to use when starting up. I also dislike that the program randomly crashes sometimes.

I can do a quick analysis of designs much more quickly with HYSYS than I could by hand. I can also check hand calculations with HYSYS to make sure I am doing my work correctly.
