We struggled with the apps and efficiently deployed them to the 15 or so sets. Our used case was that we had headsets in multiple locations, so Arbor was the perfect fit. What we loved about it was that they understood the Meta framework and built their app to support the device. ### 5. Adding devices is straightforward and managing them has been a breeze. The reports I generate have been useful and the analytics help me keep an eye on how my end users are utilizing the devices. **What do you dislike about ArborXR?** The two main issues we have with Arbor are loading devices into the system and deploying apps from the Meta Store. Devices have to be tethered to join the MDM - it would be wonderful to be able to load them without having to touch each device. The other issue is that apps located on the Meta store must be downloaded to an individual device to appear in the dashboard for use. It would be great if simply adding them would allow the headset to download them with the stored account. **What problems is ArborXR solving and how is that benefiting you?** Arbor XR gives us a management portal to monitor and administer our VR headsets. I have end users at two instruction sites using headsets and being able to monitor these devices away from a home site has been very useful. ### 6. Having access to ArborXR has opened up opportunities for us to use VR in ways that wouldn't have been manageable otherwise. **What do you dislike about ArborXR?** The setup was a little cumbersome but that is true of all management software. They've made the process as streamline as possible. ArborXR has a great library of help documents with screenshots and they also have links built into the software to go to their help pages. In addition, they are amazing at offering help through e-mail, video or phone calls to help at any point. **What problems is ArborXR solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use ArborXR to manage VR headsets within a school district. We were very limited to what we could use the headsets for because of having to be cognitive of protecting our students from accidentally navigating to programs on the headset that they should not be viewing. We also had issues with some students not knowing how to navigate through the Oculus Quest environment. Since implementing Arbor XR, we can lock out all apps except for the ones we want students to have access to. We can also lock access to settings so students aren't able to make any changes to the headsets. We are working towards providing alternative options to meet curriculum requirements through use of VR for students with disabilities, we use them in our language departments, career exploration, Science and hope to expand to other curriculums as well. ### 7. Loading multiple applications was easy and straightforward. Provisioning devices was time-consuming for 200 devices at once, but not unreasonable. ArborXR support was very good and the price point for educational users was very affordable. **What do you dislike about ArborXR?** Custom interface used for multiple apps (XR Launcher) tended to allow users access to features that were intended to be (and set in the application) to be locked out. This could be an issue for how the Quest 2 is updated with the ArborXR application, but it was somewhat challenging to work with. After the devices and the ArborXR application was updated, it seemed better. **What problems is ArborXR solving and how is that benefiting you?** ArborXR was needed to install two custom applications on 200 Quest 2 headsets for a pilot project. Even a small customer such as we are finds a listening ear. - Support, though not often needed, is top-notch. **What do you dislike about ArborXR?** There is not much to dislike about ArborXR. If I had to mention anything at all it would be the somewhat convoluted way that is required to setup Meta devices. However this is not even ArborXR's fault and they make it as easy as can be given Meta's constraints. **What problems is ArborXR solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are an XR development company. We require a solution to roll out apps quickly and updates to our demo devices. We also need a default platform for our customers that allows us to deploy apps and updates for apps to them quickly. ArborXR provides both in an attractively priced package (basic use, which is already very functional, is even free for a substantial number of devices). ### 11. Just some small quality-of-life improvements, like being able to remove app(wrong/old) versions by yourself instead of contacting ArborXR. But when I find these small things I pass them to ArborXR and they handle the tips professionally. **What problems is ArborXR solving and how is that benefiting you?** ArborXR solves the problem of multiple device management for VR/Standalone devices that are spread out over multiple places. The software is fairly straight forward to use as well. Although lacking a couple of features, like remote viewing capabilities, they plan on adding those in the near future. The fact that I can manage up to 50 headsets for free is the biggest PRO to using ArborXR, without a doubt. **What do you dislike about ArborXR?** I was able to figure out the software, but it isn't the *most* user friendly. I can't dock them on that for the size of their team, though. There's also some annoyance in that I haven't figured out a way to push through updates to devices while they're connected to a computer. It appears they'll only update over wifi when disconnected from a PC. I have not sought a solution to this from them as it's a minor enough annoyance that I haven't encountered it enough to warrant doing so. **What problems is ArborXR solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are a STEM education non-profit that has been graciously gifted nearly 60 Oculus Quest 2 headsets from both Meta and Unity for use by students in VR game development. The issue we have run into is finding a faster way to manage all of these headsets without having to download apps onto each one every time we need to do so. ArborXR's offer of 50 free devices was very attractive to us. Although we haven't deployed all of our headsets using ArborXR, we have used it on nine devices so far. We often use our headsets at community events, so the kiosk mode ArborXR provides is very helpful in keeping participants where they need to be. ### 14. Their support has been excellent and quick as well. The biggest competition, for us, would be Meta itself. However, I think they have a lot to catch up with and a horrible track record in this area. I had to factory reset to successfully install Arborxr on multiple headsets. Sidenote: This was a while ago, so this may not happen now as my co-workers could install without factory reset. - Unable to select multiple platforms in "Groups". Bringing them into developer mode is a challenge. The main benefit of ArborXR is the battery monitoring on our VR devices saves me and my team's valuable time in gathering the low-power headsets before my classroom sessions. I also love the fact that they offer 50 free devices. Further, the potential to work across multiple devices and the possibility of the kiosk/custom launcher helps lock down the HMD and prevent access to unauthorized apps. **What do you dislike about ArborXR?** None so far. Sometimes when you launch a headset in kiosk mode it comes up with a warning screen saying nothing is loaded, and then launches the app. I have spoken to someone about it so hopefully, it will be resolved in the future. **What problems is ArborXR solving and how is that benefiting you?** We used to use Oculus Go headsets and the process of putting them into kiosk mode was sp time-consuming. Now we have all the pico headsets on the dashboard, I can keep track of them, put them in and out of kiosk mode as needed and update remoteley. The VR devices (like the Quest) I have used don't provide an easy way to lock down the experience to ensure a safe environment for our students. Students can easily get access to applications that are inappropriate for their age (i.e. gambling) or into multiplayer environments (we have no idea who could be interacting with the students). ArborXR solves this problem for us. Through their custom launcher, we can lock down the experience to ensure that students can only access the applications that have been approved. As an added bonus, ArborXR allows for some custom branding, which is a nice touch too. From a management point of view, it allows staff to monitor what applications are being run, update wifi passwords and deploy new applications remotely, making life much easier. **What do you dislike about ArborXR?** We love using ArborXR. Only issue we had was connecting with our network (it needs authentication at a portal before internet access is granted) What would be great is a way to automatically take the user to a set webpage after the device starts up, which will allow them to log in. This means ensuring they are safe when using VR equipment under our supervision.
