It is a major upgrade over previous release. Airplay mirroring is added. System-wide integration of airplay is added. Application updates automatically install from Mac Store. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
When the x11 app is opened, the users are often redirected to the XQuartz project instead. The option in menu bar displaying battery life based on time is removed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I like that it is intuitive to use-- our org has a wide level of proficiency. Too many changes can halt productivity. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can be tedious to customize features to your computer or find a critical operation. The search bar helps but isn't always accurate in helping. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Apple OS X Mountain Lion is very user-friendly. I have used both Apple and Windows 10, and I have to say that OS X has certain features that are unbeatable. I use airplay quite a bit, so airplay is an awesome feature (as well as overall compatibility with Apple products), and autosave enhancements have been a lifesaver for someone who creates and edits many documents. Airdrop is also a super convenient feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
As much as I do like the Airplay feature, it is irritating that my older devices (such as an older Apple TV) are no longer compatible with this newer operating system. Certain actions like scroll direction and resize window changes can also be frustrating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Mountain Lion was a very stable OS platform for people using media software such as Pro Tools 10.3 and early versions of Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro and photo and image editing software. Using a Mac Pro (2009-2012 'cheese grater' models) with plenty of RAM and a solid video card, Mountain Lion provided the speed and power to do most multimedia production. Mountain Lion got left behind when Apple's OS moved to Mavericks. Many stable programs were not fully compatible with Mavericks through to High Sierra (although there were some adventurous folks who used older software and were successful). As software multimedia programs upgraded, Mountain Lion could not support programs with the newer bells and whistles. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The installation can be long because it is a big file size so it can take few hours depending on your system and internet. For me it took 3 hours to complete the whole process Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
