**What do you like best about Appcues?**

Appcues has a user friendly interface that makes it easy to learn how to use the product. They also offer pretty robust help documentation.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

There could be more granularity to the control of the campains. It wold be great if users had the option to turn the guides on and off.

**Recommendations to others considering Appcues:**

Consider your options. They offer trials so you can try it and see if it's a good fit for your needs. They make improvements constantly and really listen to feedback which is always good for a growing organization such as ours.

Our company uses Appcues as an in-app guide to help our users learn how to use our software quickly and efficiently.

**What do you like best about Appcues?**

Appcues is very simple to use, and depending on your situation should be easy to implement in your website/product.

Rather than your dev team building everything in-house, you can save a lot of developer time by having them just input the code and doing it yourself (non-technical guy here)

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

Sometimes when you're building a flow the buttons can lock and you'll have to refresh your page. Not too big of a deal and doesn't happen too often. A bug I'm sure will be fixed.

Check out their content. It is top notch and shows that they are obviously the masters of their domain.

I love how it tracks NPS scores for our company.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

I find the flows to be difficult to learn at first but when we first implemented Appcues we saw a HUGE increase in completion of tasks within our app. 

**What problems is Appcues solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have checklists within our app that tells the customer what to do, when to complete it, what the next step is, etc. We have realized that by linking our customers directly to support articles and guides right there within our app is extremely powerful.

Appcues has helped us engage our customers throughout their journey. We have seen a significant impact on our conversion and retention.

The reporting functionality can be improved. Now you can only see the aggregate numbers, but not the stats of individual users.

**What problems is Appcues solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a product-led company, we want our product to be the major growth lever for our business. The end-game is having a product that represents itself. Appcues allows us to do just that. We for instance wouldn’t have thought of offering a free trial without Appcues.

**What do you like best about Appcues?**

Simplicity and ease in creating engaging content.   The chrome flows plugin makes it quick and easy to build content in a wysiwyg interface.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

Until recently we were not able to production test the flows without acting as a real user.   This change has now been delivered and works well.

**What problems is Appcues solving and how is that benefiting you?**


We are able to focus our developers on building core value for our clients leaving the communicating, advertising, training and on-boarding to our product marketing and product managers.   Meaning we can deliver more value to our clients and get the most from our dev resources without them having to build in training and on-boarding capabilities for every feature. 

This really helped us when launching our platform redesign and auto onboarding initiatives.

User onboarding is constantly evolving in our app and it is inefficient to consistently write new, static code for this. Appcues makes it easy and fast!

Appcues is a great tool. It is extremely user-friendly, allowing you to create impactful flows that help deliver messages, info and helpful tips directly to your customers. The people at Appcues have been amazing since day 1, always checking in to ensure we found success with their product. I have nothing but good thing to say about Appcues!

There are one or two UX improvements I would make but overall I can't say there is much I dislike!

Try it out and I bet you will love it! It is one of the easiest tools to adapt to. 

**What problems is Appcues solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been using Appcues to deliver our new release announcements. Being a fast growing software company, we release features usually every week or every other week. It is extremely important we keep all our clients informed and up to speed on the platform's most recent capabilities. We need to be able to easily and quickly inform people of these releases in-app and with context. Appcues has allowed us to ensure people are in the know at all times.

AppCues is easy to set up and easy to use. We were able to get up and running within an hour, and built our first flow to support a new launch the next week.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

NPS functionality could be a bit more polished, as can the metrics on each flow. However, I believe it's a young product, and I anticipate such themes to be addressed in future iterations.

User On Boarding and NPS Surveys. We've been able to move away from email-based announcements, and centralized our communication, education, and on boarding in one place.

Ease of use, distributed responsibility where literally anyone on our product or marketing team can launch a new flow.

Responsive is not their strong suit (yet - we are told it's in process).  We have to duplicate our flows on mobile and desktop and adjust accordingly.

User onboarding, new feature introduction, product tours, NPS assessment, referral and virality CTAs.

Appcues is a great tool for our team. It allows us to quickly iterate and improve our onboarding flows without spending hours of engineering time.

We also use appcues for NPS, which has helped us cut down on additional tools.

Nothing really. The appcues product has a lot of features and functionality, and is easy to use - which make it hard to fault.

**What do you like best about Appcues?**

I love that as a non-developer I can train/inform our clients about additions to our tools.  Getting our development team involved in anything is a process, but Appcues was an easy one time set up and then all I have to do is spend 10 minutes setting up a flow and now I can show whatever customers I want to a new feature! 
This is an NECESSARY tool for any SaaS company. If you dont have in-app training/walkthroughs then you are not going to captivate your audience, or help inform them of changes you make. We hardly ever email our clients because we can let appcues tell them what is going on right from the system.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

I dont think I have anything I would say that I dislike.  The software is constantly being updated and they do user tests with their clients to make sure everything they release is user friendly.

Solving the issue of informing clients how to use our application, or walk them through new features. Also collecting NPS with Appcues

They have a great support base, it is intuitive to use and they have good recommendations on how to onboard users. 

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

It has frozen couple of times but compared to other solutions this is minor hiccups so far. Anaytics part is still quite basic but allows csv output to play around with.

Onboarding new users, new feature announcements. With Appcues we have another channel for users who miss personal onboarding.

**What do you like best about Appcues?**

It was really easy to create flows, test them and launch them. It's great for creating some basic flows to guide users. The ability to define which users were eligible for a flow was really useful. The initial installation was really simple, too.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

We ran into a lot of problems when trying to integrate this into an AngularJS application. We demanded some pretty intense multi-step flows that triggered events within our single page app, and just wasn't possible with Appcues.

There's no way to execute custom JavaScript during different flow steps and/or user interactions. We also couldn't pre-populate fields with dummy data during onboarding, which was a requirement for us. At one point, we had our app listening to the "stepId" changes and reacting to them, but this was unreliable. A lot of our users got frustrated or completely stuck during the onboarding and abandoned our app. 

Between these problems and the steep price increase, we had to stop using it.

If you don't need a high level of control over your flows, Appcues might be a good choice.

We ultimately switched to a competitor that allowed more control over the flow.

I think the modals and formats we can use to indicate our users is good. We don't need to code anything to personalize our workflows.

Maybe the import/exports to create complexities segments could help us more than you are helping!

I'm especially fond of how easy the AppCues interface is to use. It makes executing upon in-app messaging programs (via slide-outs and modals) a breeze, and adding training elements (hover-overs and tool-tips) can be done in a snap.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

Occasionally the app will "stick" and metrics will be slow to populate - but that's probably due to user impatience more than anything else.

**What do you like best about Appcues?**

We shopped around for an onboarding SaaS service for a while and Appcues was by far the best. It's extremely easy to use and the customer service has been great. The people there aren't afraid to take the time to make sure you know the product. I look forward to seeing how we can improve adoption with this product.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

It would be nice if you could have private flows per user, rather than always shared by default, so that if people are working on different projects you don't always have to see all of them in your dashboard.

**What problems is Appcues solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication (rather than depending on email), customer adoption, achieving that "AHA" moment.

We haven't rolled this out yet, but look forward to seeing what happens.

It's a powerful tool and I have learned a tremendous amount about onboarding and customer experience. As a company, Appcues clearly "eats their own dogfood" and they are a pleasure to work with.

Nothing really - it's a great tool. The learning curve can be steep to fully implement but the team at appcues is there to help.

We are really liking how we can create customized walk through for our clients to send in a live chat or email that takes them through a step by step process. It's also changing our Knowledge Base to have those walk through links available for anyone looking for help.

There are some section of our site that don't easily allow an embedded flow.

We've completely revamped our new user onboarding, and Appcues allows us to better track A/B testing and completion rates. For my team, we are focused on making the training and support of our product easier for our clients.

-Looks beautiful

Everything is element driven (e.g. show a call-out next to this H1 heading when user is on this page). However, our site has many "hidden" elements on a page, which only display when the user interacts with the page in a certain way. It'd be nice if you could somehow detect these clicks/interactions, and then display tutorials based on that (e.g. on click of this button, show this alert)

**What do you like best about Appcues?**

Our engineers don't need to spend valuable sprint time custom coding feature walkthroughs or onboarding tutorials. Product Management can manage the process end-to-end in Appcues. The end result has modern UI elements that are completely flexible to match existing product colors, fonts and attributes.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

The "last-mile" can be challenging. Ironing out the final bugs in flows takes some time, and at times requires workarounds and hacks.

**What do you like best about Appcues?**

The main benefit of Appcues is its flexibility. You can embed custom code into tooltips to change their appearance, run scripts, embed an iframe, or insert buttons that do custom actions.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

Frequent bugs when building flows requiring a refresh. Lots of cool stuff you can do but it often requires time from developers to implement properly. Anyone running ad blockers won't see Appcues flows at all. There seems to be a significant delay between steps, both when previewing flows and when seeing them as an end user. 

**What problems is Appcues solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our aim was to reduce dev time required for user onboarding, and increase speed of iteration with user onboarding. This has been mostly realized, but it's time consuming and frustrating to edit flows and isn't an ideal long-term solution.

Appcues gives me the ability to message to our users without having to fit into an engineering sprint cycle. It's been an invaluable tool for the Marketing team to reach customers with important updates about events, the product, and new content.

While it's getting better, the product is not super intuitive. Reporting requires some handholding and toggling between sections takes too many steps. Luckily, their support has been top notch to help overcome some of the UI issues.

We launched our NPS survey in-app with Appcues and tripled the number of responses in half the amount of time. Appcues is working on refining this NPS product and does an excellent job facilitating and implementing customer feedback. We're beginning to use Appcues directions in areas of our product that often result in support tickets but haven't done enough testing to see the impact of that.

**What do you like best about Appcues?**

It is relatively easy to use and allows us non-programmers the ability to put up announcements and product walk throughs quickly and easily.

We have added our own targeting criteria which is really powerful for us. So we can target users based on their usage so far of our product and show them the very next step they should take.  This allows us to be very specific with our instruction.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

When you target something on one URL (Like your demo or developer site) and then push it live to another URL the editing capability always launches on the URL you built the flow on.  If a flow is only showing on one URL then the editing should launch on that URL.

I have had to have a UI designer from my company help me with the "look and feel". I have had trouble with some of their built-in tools to control the borders around my tool tips.

Their tool uses a browser extension to place and create tool tips and modals. This has taken some getting used to for sure. When I hit the "Shift" button to use controls on my web page it opens in a new browser instead of the one I'm in making it very hard to edit flows sometimes.  Sometimes I just have to back all the way out and go back in. This relates to the URLs, I believe.

Onboarding users that sign-up for a free trial of our service. We have seen an increase in the usage of our product since using AppCues but we have made other changes that may have caused that increase. But this functionality is considered "table stakes" for us meaning we just have to have it.

Appcues allows you to deploy in-application marketing to your users without touching code. It makes doing in-application marketing (often the most effective) as easy as lifecycle email marketing.

We started using Appcues because we were actively looking to build in-application marketing messages ourselves, our VP of Engineering convinced us to search for a vendor that could do this "off the shelf" rather than building a custom solution. 

We found Appcues, thank god: it has saved us weeks if not months of engineering time. Appcues integrated with our Segment installation giving us unrivalled targeting data, it is almost absurd how many dimensions you can target from within Appcues.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

I wish there were more design patterns - I would love to inject Appcues content natively within the webpage, rather than in a modal.

I think the reporting (big investment area in 2017 and 2018) is a little light. We use Heap and SQL to do most of the analysis, and that works ok: but I'd love more functionality such as conversion goal tracking: worth noting that this feature came into Beta in December 2017, and will update my review as we test it - but looks great so far.

Super easy to use. It is primarily used by users with no technical background that feel really empowered by delivering meaningful experiments in our user experience without having to depend on Engineering.

The integration with Segment allows us to power up extremely detailed experiments (i.e. show this message only to users that have done A but not B, whose account has spend more than C and that are using the dashboard in language D).

In the last year they have added a lot of options to simplify the customization and styling of modals, which usually required some coordination client side.

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

Nothing. I like that it is extremely focused on solving just one problem and doing it right, instead of trying to become a Frankenstein product that solves for everything (like other personalization products).

**Recommendations to others considering Appcues:**

The integration is really easy. I would recommend anyone considering it to just take it for a spin.

We added Appcues to our mix around 2 years ago. At that point I think we were one of their earliest customers.

We have a multi-app user dashboard, where the vast majority of users are totally self-service and with a wide range of knowledge about both the platform and the industry.

We are also a fast moving team, where at any given time you could have a good number of small and large sized experiments running

Appcues is a really easy way of consistently deploying navigation and conversion experiments without having to block Engineering resources.

We have used Appcues for a wild variety of use cases and it always delivers.

Appcues provides us with a low-cost, low-energy solution for reaching our brand new customers. It's inexpensive, simple to set up and SUPER effective. Once our modal was ready to publish, it only took one of our developers about 7 minutes to link it to our system and set it live. 

**What do you dislike about Appcues?**

There are few things that I dislike about Appcues, but sometimes it can be tricky to get a modal to look exactly the way that you want it to. For example, I find that there are very few font sizes and styles to work with. So if you're using an image of your product in the modal, you may not be able to match the Appcues font to your product font.

You need to give it a try!

Beware of pricing hikes. They sent an email announcement an almost 300% increase from $129/mo to $299/mo.  I get pricing adjustments but this is unreal and just seems plain shady.

I have been going back and forth with support for over a week with no resolution to the dynamic URL error their system seems to have. Support takes over 24 hrs to respond and when they finally respond, they do not provide a solution to the issue we are having. There is no phone number to call nor chat to help get you set up. At this point I am extremely frustrated by the lack of communication, had they just told me a week ago that their system could not meet my needs I would have been satisfied and saved a ton of time.

Customer support during the set up process should be made more available. It is extremely frustrating to spend hours setting something up to have support not available to help answer seemingly easy questions.

Easy to get going. Has a slick interface which lets you quickly setup flows and journeys. You can start with a Chrome extension even before you have the code live on the site. You can use Google Tag Manager to implement the code quickly.

It has more trouble with single page apps as far as building the flow. Also takes a bit more work to integrate, though that's not necessarily the fault of Appcues. Pricing gets quick expensive as you scale up though so more for business type applications vs. consumer.

Test the free trials across a bunch of onboarding tools and see which best suits your needs from a cost/features perspective.

We put in less than 1 day of dev effort and now have a tool that training, onboarding, product management and marketing can use to do their jobs. By communicating with customers and coaching them from within the product, we've seen growth in feature usage, survey responses and views on product release announcements.

Analytics could be better. There are a lot of integration options but I'd love a dashboard so I didn't have to rely on external analytics packages.

The effort is so low but the ROI can be massive. Just devote the 1/2 day for implementation and try it. You will not be disappointed.

The product is plug and play - it works well right out of the box. For more complicated occasions which require a little creative massaging, the AppCues team is reactive, helpful and amazing. They really care about helping you meet your goals.  We're a bootstrapped start up and couldn't afford the competition (which is more than double the cost). I'm glad we wound up partnering with AppCues.

Nothing yet. We had a few issues getting set up, but 90% of those issues were due to our product's dev, and technical debt. The AppCues team was helpful in guiding us forward and as soon as Appcues had glitches (nothing major) they were fixed immediately.
