Ability to quickly create prototypes with existing TCL solutions and utilize the C API within Apache environments. This solution has withstood the test of time for decades now, and continues to be a very 'close to the metal' solution that lets you get more speed out of your toolsets than many modern more abstracted solutions. That combined with existing GUI interfaces for administration tasks makes running on many different Linux distributions (Debian & Ubuntu, Redhat, SuSE and CentOS), FreeBSD and OpenBSD a snap. Many existing solutions that simplify implementing necessary functions (like mod_evasive & mod_limitipconn) have either been abandoned entirely for years or are so infrequently updated that you might wind up having to fork and fix things that are already implemented well in other similar solutions to Rivit+Apache. Or alternatively you might find more powerful solutions like mod_qos that attend to many attacks and ease server load, but since these don't include the same functionality as other mods, you will still wind up having to solve things yourself.
