When you're able to customize something for your clients you should take up on the opportunity to do so because that yields a better end user experience, even though you might spend more time doing configuration and customization. Definitely give it a try! You'll definitely want a working knowledge of Javascript or Typescript (whichever you're using), but you don't need to be an expert (For reference, I'm a student who has never used Javascript outside of Hackathons and class projects, and I was able to implement amCharts relatively easily). I am creating a website for LGBT+ people in countries where homosexuality is illegal, punishable by imprisonment or even death. One of my first features was to create an interactive map that shows what homosexuality laws are present in a given country. amCharts allowed me to create an interactive map relatively easily (much easier than any alternative I've found).
