### 4. A Scalable and Versatile Database Solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Security and Investigations | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 12, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon DynamoDB?**

Developers have a scalable and adaptable choice with DynamoDB, a cloud-based NoSQL database system. As a developer, I've discovered DynamoDB to be a potent tool for data storage and retrieval, with a number of advantages that set it apart from competing databases.

**What do you dislike about Amazon DynamoDB?**

However, there are a few aspects of DynamoDB that I find objectionable. The pricing model's intricacy is one of the primary problems. Cost estimates can be challenging, and prices for larger data sets or frequent usage might be rather high. Furthermore, even though DynamoDB is a strong database solution, it might not be the ideal choice in all situations. For applications that need complicated data relationships or transactional integrity, for instance, it might not be the best option.

**What problems is Amazon DynamoDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The need for a scalable NoSQL database solution that can handle high traffic and data volumes, high availability and durability requirements, and the need for a flexible and user-friendly data format are all issues that Amazon DynamoDB addresses. Developers and businesses benefit from DynamoDB's dependable and effective database solution because it makes it simple to manage and store data, handle erratic traffic and growth, and create applications that need real-time data processing and analysis. Scalability, dependability, flexibility, and ease of use are just a few of DynamoDB's advantages, all of which can assist developers and businesses in streamlining their processes and enhancing the performance of their applications.

 ### 5. Readable schema and easy to work with

**What do you like best about Amazon DynamoDB?**

It is a nosql database, with easy retrievals of data stored as key-value pair. You can make boto3 api calls to modify values, you can use it store metadata of any application you're using.

**What do you dislike about Amazon DynamoDB?**

The console of dynamodb is such that sometimes it gets irritating to get to the table values when you're in a haste to verify data. This makes the rest of the work somewhat irritable.

**What problems is Amazon DynamoDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Amazon DynamoDB is quite handy when it comes to storage of data for your work in AWS. Eg: you're working with lambda and you want to store some values for an iam user, his birthdate, id, ticket creation date. You can use dynamodb to store such values for maintaining records of your applications and update them as and when the metadata changes. It helps keep track of work and apply consistency of data across your account.

DynamoDB let us offload the administrative burdens of operating and scaling a distributed database so that we don't have to worry about hardware provisioning, setup, configuration, replication, software patching, or cluster scaling.

**What do you dislike about Amazon DynamoDB?**

Multiple items or tables cannot be involved in complex transactions. It is difficult to maintain consistency in data when this occurs and can require additional effort.

**What problems is Amazon DynamoDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The data has been backed up to S3. Amazon Kinesis, Elastic MapReduce (Amazon EMR), and Data Pipeline are also integrated. It offers enterprise-ready features such as monitoring tools, SLAs, and private VPNs.

**Reviewed by:** Aman R. | Founder & CEO , Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon DynamoDB?**

We like using DynamoDB due to it being faster and cheaper than others, moreover, we love the design with makes it easy to run queries and access data at a much faster rate which increases the overall efficiency of database.

**What do you dislike about Amazon DynamoDB?**

It's much harder to run a cluster of queries in a database which is something that takes a lot of time when using dockerized containers and selecting one data point at a time, Moreoevr the UX can become more intuitive for a better user experience.

**What problems is Amazon DynamoDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Amazon DynamoDB to store login credentials and databases of personal information, as our main storage server which increases our KPI better of faster geo-location-based caching which helps increase user efficiency and increase our ROI.

 ### 30. Highly scalable and easy to setup but limited languages to work with and inefficient query model

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vanshaj P. | SWE, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon DynamoDB?**

The best thing about Amazon Dynamo Database is that it is highly scalable, fully managed (serverless), secure, and easy to set up as we just have to navigate to our AWS Console and set it up

**What do you dislike about Amazon DynamoDB?**

The main problem that I faced with DynamoDB is that it has limited querying options and that it had a size limit of 400kb for an item that couldn't be increased. I faced some issues in predicting the costs also which was a very crucial part as I didn't have much funding back then and even now, it is a major issue.

**What problems is Amazon DynamoDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main problem that DynamoDB solves is the problem of scalability. It provides unlimited storage and it is very easy, to begin with. Also, it doesn't require any "behind the scenes" infrastructures as it is fully managed.

 ### 31. DynamoDB is the ease to use database

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bervianto Leo P. | Backend Developer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon DynamoDB?**

I like DynamoDB because it's serverless and easy to set up. I don't need to worry about scalability. I can provision easily and manage plenty of configurations.

**What do you dislike about Amazon DynamoDB?**

I don't dislike DynamoDB. I hope DynamoDB has mock tools to easily by developers to integrate and test the DynamoDB tools. Also, have integration with SDK for various programming languages.

**What problems is Amazon DynamoDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Meet my needs and I can manage DynamoDB easily. Not like conventional databases which I need to provide manually and have higher prices. It works great with dev and production workloads.

 ### 32. Use Cases and Deployment Scope

scalability
Developer training
Data conversion
Security – encryption
Consistency model
Performance – throughput and auto scaling
Reliability
Optimizing capacity and spending

**What do you dislike about Amazon DynamoDB?**

I think there could be better explanations of how it works because it takes some time to understand partition and sorting keys.

I'd also like to read explanations of why the key limitations of it exist and why other NOSQL databases seem to have easy solutions.

I think the options to customize DynamoDB should be explained better

**What problems is Amazon DynamoDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

DynamoDB is very cheap if you use the on-demand setup.
DynamoDB is very quick for querying data.
DynamoDB has a lot of examples on AWS Documentation to do anything you need to do.

 ### 33. One of the best NoSQL database service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Akshay D. | SDE 2, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Amazon DynamoDB?**

There are multiple things that I like about DynamoDB but the best would be that it is fully managed services means AWS handles all the aspects like hardware provisioning, setup, configuration, patching, scaling and backups. This allows developere like us to focus on building applications rather than managing the underlying infrastructure.

**What do you dislike about Amazon DynamoDB?**

The thing which I dislike about DynamoDB is the lack of built-in schema migration. If we need to modify our table schema then we also need to handle migration manually to manage data consistency.

**What problems is Amazon DynamoDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Storing the data such as key value pair or data which is not changed frequently.

 ### 34. Efficient and Scalable

- Fully managed, so not having to worry about backups, scaling, administration etc
- Low latency, can handle many millions of requests per sec
- Horizontally scalable
- Secure, IAM based access
- Dynamic pricing based on usage

**What do you dislike about Amazon DynamoDB?**

- Cost becomes high if the application regularly gets huge traffic
- Cost also can become high as we have to mention read and write capacity prior to creation and estimation might be skewed sometimes

**What problems is Amazon DynamoDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Fully managed
- As it supports both document and key value models it is very flexible for storage and retrieval of data
- Performance has really improved. Also it is easily scalable

When I used AWS DynamoDB for my reconciliation project, which had millions of information per entity and I had almost 25 entities, the retention speed was amazing.

**What do you dislike about Amazon DynamoDB?**

Nothing everything seems good to me. The frequent updates could be controlled but as it's evolving to its best version it's acceptable. Console can be made little bit easier.

**What problems is Amazon DynamoDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was using AWS DynamoDB for my reconciliation project 2 years back. I had billions of informations need to be reconciled. It's a process of creating , reading, updating in a cyclic manner.

 ### 38. Powerful and cost-effective No SQL database

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about Amazon DynamoDB?**

Security-wise dynamoDb offers it's own built-in security adding on to the backup feature that will help developers in playing with the database. It also provides perfect import and export feature which helps in easy handling of data. It is useful for all levels of enterprise applications as it has no limitations. No limitation on size of data give users a large vision of long term planning of their applications.

**What do you dislike about Amazon DynamoDB?**

While performing single transactions in a database, dynamoDb resticts support for mutiple operations in a single database transaction. Query running speed can also be a limitation of this tool as other similar tools are a bit faster while quering a database.

**What problems is Amazon DynamoDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Scalable data helps in storing large data at single place and simple queries are already in-built present which helps in extracting data easily. It helps me in terms of it's simplicity as it requires low-scale operations to query the database and to perform actions on our database.
