Here you can have multiple instances connected locally for faster operations without even having them exposed to outer world or internet, which makes it much more secured than usual EC2 servers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some of the services are a bit expensive, in general it'd be nice to have such services at cheaper price. Plus the flow isn't very intuitive, one might have to spend considerable amount of time to understand it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Amazon VPC keeps your resources isolated from others. It protects your resources from any traffic you do not allow, even from within the same account. You have complete control and can even automate your environment so you can version control it or deploy it elsewhere. The interface is relatively simple and you do not need to be a Citrix certified engineer to make your own environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some features like VPC flow logs are not yet supported by CloudFormation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This feature allows you to have your own private, isolated OSI Layer 2 network "VLAN" between your EC2 instances. This is very useful to securely connect your services (eg. databases with web-server workers) without exposing them to the public internet. Also they recently added NAT-gateway support, so you can assign a private IP address to your internal instances, and they will be able to reach the internet securely without a public IP. They only charge for the VPN connections to the VPC network and the NAT gateway usage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
IPv6 is not supported by VPC at this time. This might be the biggest disadvantage if IPv6 support is needed. The NAT gateway feature is a bit expensive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

VPC has given us a lot more flexibility to create secure services hosted on AWS by allowing for internal networks that are available just to us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I've been a user since they first launched VPC, and it was difficult to understand and use in the beginning. But the product has matured a lot since then and I have no complaints now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
You can launch almost any resource provided by AWS in a defined virtual network without compromising its security. One can create subnets, define both public and private IPs and create a whole new configuration which suits the business need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Amazon services are not for free.
UI needs improvement as it's not easy to comprehend for beginners. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ultimately the vpc set up is better security wise. You can change instance security groups more easily and create multiple network interfaces per instance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's non-trivial. If you're used to ec2 classic there will definitely be a learning curve getting started. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It provides a lot of cost savings from not having to manage a data center Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Because it's virtual, speeds are as fast as a physical environment Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
