Highly scalable with the ability to have a huge amount of computing power. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's on a much older and heavily modified version of postgres. A lot of cool postgres things don't work in redshift. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Redshift follows columnar database structure which performs very efficient wile dealing with columns. I like most of the thing about AWS Redshift, it is easily integrated with S3, Support ANSI standard SQL, easily load/unload data from s3 or other sources. follows ACID properties.indexing, Sorting .. etc Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes queries will perform bad if you forgot to do vacuum/analyse after copy(load). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It works in the cloud environment.
We can write any syntax i.e they can be from Oracle SQL/ MS SQL server etc.
User Interface is quite attractive.

To work in Redshift we need DBeaver which sometimes slows the connection and system crashes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Redshift keeps all of our data together for analytics. We use S3 buckets to collect data and transformdata and then move it to reshift. Looking to to enable with keyword search to make data retrival much easier to use and consume. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Some of the data analytics are difficult based on the side and clarity of data. Looking to enable it to work with keyword search. This will make our data retrevial much easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that redshift allows us to store our large datasets in easily accesible databases. being able to use the postgres syntax i am familiar with makes it easy to adopt. Redshift clusters are quick and easy to deploy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I find that optimizing databases can be difficult at times. It's a different sort of database to conceptualize based on our previous experiences so understanding the best practices can be challenging. In addition because it is its own database with it's own syntax you can't 100% use postgres syntax or plug-ins directly. It also doesn't have many options for desktop clients. I like the large, large amount of raw data you can put in. My company has less than half a terrabyte of nice, simple relational data and redshift obviously meets our size needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This is probably due to how we originally designed our star schema, but I find for our most common use cases that the queries we have to write can be much more complicated than queries sent to a non-normalized database. Needing to do window functions is a common need and I think window functions tend to run a bit slower on column storage DBs? Not exactly sure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's fast.
It's scalable and easy to use.
integration with cloudwatch Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Misses some types of data and is not good do persist information if you need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
