## About Amazon ElastiCache
Amazon ElastiCache is a fully managed service that makes it easy to deploy, operate, and scale an in-memory data store and cache in the cloud. Often working in conjunction with other AWS database and storage services, ElastiCache ensures modern applications meet real-time requirements for high data throughput and sub-milli second response times, while serving millions of simultaneous requests. Amazon ElastiCache supports two open-source in-memory engines: o Redis - a fast, open source, in-memory data store and cache. Amazon ElastiCache for Redis is a Redis-compatible in-memory service that delivers the ease-of-use and power of Redis along with the availability, reliability and performance suitable for the most demanding applications. ElastiCache for Redis is fully managed, scalable, and secure - making it an ideal candidate to power high-performance use cases such as Web, Mobile Apps, Gaming, Ad-Tech, and IoT. o Memcached - a widely adopted memory object caching system. Amazon ElastiCache for Memcached is protocol compliant with Memcached, so popular tools that you use today with existing Memcached environments will work seamlessly with the service. ElastiCache for Memcached is suitable for caching use cases where performance and concurrency is important.

**What do you like best about Amazon ElastiCache?**

I can use it exactly like the standard Redis.

**What do you dislike about Amazon ElastiCache?**

The cluster configuration with multi-sharding is not supported by PHP

**What problems is Amazon ElastiCache solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Currently I'm using ElastiCache for session handling and e-mail blacklist storage. I can hold the session data on one place and access them from my containers.

  ### 2. Elasticache backed by Redis is awesome.

**Reviewed Date:** October 10, 2020

**What do you like best about Amazon ElastiCache?**

We created an instance of redis on ElastiCache, we never had a problem with it for years.
Literally set and forget.

**What do you dislike about Amazon ElastiCache?**

Actually nothing in particular, the UX perhaps.

**What problems is Amazon ElastiCache solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our backend needed a caching system (redis in this case) to store some information, we could actually create an EC2 instance but why? Having a managed system (even if simple as in case of redis) is most often better than managing one on your own.

  ### 5. ElastiCache is worthy in terms of holding data like token, images, urls in reference to latency

  ### 13. Amazon ElastiCache

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2018

**What do you like best about Amazon ElastiCache?**

Amazon ElastiCache is a fully managed in-memory data store and cache service by Amazon Web Services (AWS). The service improves the performance of web applications by retrieving information from managed in-memory caches, instead of relying entirely on slower disk-based databases. ElastiCache supports two open-source in-memory caching engines: Memcached and Redis (also called “ElastiCache for Redis”).

As a web service running in the computing cloud, Amazon ElastiCache is designed to simplify the setup, operation, and scaling of memcached and Redis deployments. Complex administration processes like patching software, backing up and restoring data sets and dynamically adding or removing capabilities are managed automatically. Scaling ElastiCache resources can be performed by a single API call.

**What do you dislike about Amazon ElastiCache?**

Redis on Elasticache does not directly support persistence (but it's do-able using the backup feature + or attaching a Redis Slave), so you run the risk of losing messages if the instance goes down.

**Recommendations to others considering Amazon ElastiCache:**

It’s very useful

**What problems is Amazon ElastiCache solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Performance of web applications
