As a software engineer, there are several things that I really love about AWS! First and foremost, I appreciate the exceptional scalability and elasticity it offers. With AWS, I can easily expand or shrink resources based on the demands of my application, ensuring optimum performance and cost optimization.
Another great aspect is the wide range of services provided by AWS. Whether it's computing power with EC2, data storage with S3, or managed databases with RDS, AWS has a comprehensive suite of tools to meet my needs. It also integrates seamlessly with other popular developer tools, making development and deployment workflows streamlined.
The security features of AWS are also impressive. With extensive compliance certifications, robust encryption options, and built-in security measures, I can trust that my applications and data are well protected. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only thing I dislike about AWS is that they frequently update their UI, which can sometimes make it difficult to find the right option. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As its from AWS and AWS already has a powerful EKS(Elastic k8s service) which works really well with ECR for storing the container images and allow to build and deploy the application in a easy manner.
its time based deletion policy helps you to delete and save the cost of storing the images in ECR
it has a good AWS CLI support and documentation to download and upload images to ECR as well as perform other operations
it support both the public and private repositories Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Although it supports the public repositories to host the public inages but still its not widely adopted as docker hub
Sometime its slow espeically when you want to download and upload images from the locations where its far from its hosted repositories which is the case in most of the distributed development teams Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We can instantly deploy our applications on the AWS Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
pricing of the AWS Cloud in some of the serices like Lambda, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Amazon ECR is one of the best Docker container registry I have been using as an option to store any type of docker images for my project. It easily integrates with other resources of AWS ecosystem for eg Amazon Elastic container service,Amazon Elastic Kubernate service etc. Its highly scalable so I can store any number of docker images without worrying about storage space. While pulling the docker images from registry its very easy and reliable and having very low latency. ECR is a pay as you go service, so I have found it little bit costly and risky for newbies for storing large number of images without having any idea of the total bill. Also pulling the images from ECR through cli is little bit complex. Beside these there is nothing such to dislike about ECR. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is very helpful for integration with amazon services like ec2, ecs and eks. It helped me in building custom images that was used by eks cluster where the implementation was easy as the deployment only needed appropriate access to the ecr image. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
That compared to other cloud platforms like azure ACR (az acr import command), it does not have a feature to import/copy the images from docker hub to ACR. One need to login to docker, pull the image to local, then login to ecr and then push it to the registry which i feel might be great if there is a single command to acheive this. It is very easy to configure and use. Any image can be quickly downloaded or uploaded to the repository with any tag.
Our use case for the ECR is to keep the docker images from our applications that are then deployed to AWS Elastic Beanstalk. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The purge system by tags can be complicated to configure and you may delete some needed image due to that configuration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

They offere verything at overpriced cost we did Elastic Serach hosting 10K a month moved away from aws cost is 800 a month at better perfomance, someone got access to a key at somepoint we rotated but the account kept getting comprosied and missused we raised 30 tickets to AWS no one care and end up us leaving as a billg over 60K came due to this, where as we didn't consume any of the 60K and again aws didn't care at all... If you like to pay 10X more for nothing, get no support or pay for a support that goes in circle go for AWS.... we moved to GCP instead which is 10X better... AWS wonder why people uses it? Burning VC money maybe. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

ECR makes it easy to deploy containers to other AWS services such as Lambda and ECS. It is easy to use and the cost is acceptable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
