What I like about Alteryx is that it uses a node based system kind of like KNIMe but more sophisticated. It also allows for us to utilize our own code which a huge benefit for the work that has already been carried out. The most useful aspect for us is the ability to aggregate data from different sources. Orcale, Teradata, SQL Server, large datasets are able to be generated easily and quickly. Sometimes when trying to create datasets when SQL Assistant is lagging or not running at peak performance, I switch to Alteryx and am able to generate my datasets. It is a really good tool for varying levels of data analysis experience.

There is not a much to dislike about Alteryx. Perhaps those individuals with very basic and beginner levels of data analysis and data literacy make require more training to use it effectively. Some of the syntax in formulas are different from other coding languages and require some troubleshooting.

The biggest problem that Alteryx solves for me is the ability to aggregate data from different servers and sources into one data set with all required fields for necessary data exploration and analysis.

Alteryx is very user friendly because of its workflow, canvas, and drag-drop tools experience. The best thing about it, is that it makes it very easy to teach and learn the tool. Other automation tools, mostly coding ones, are always written codes, while with alteryx you can get to the same desired automation in a more simpler way.

When I first started using Alteryx, one of my main complaints was that I couldn't open XLS and XLSB files, it would be good if any files could be used easily. Also, the idea that I can't run the workflow with the input file open is not the best, because sometimes is good to run the workflow with the archive open to compare.

Alteryx is helping to reduce countless hours of manual work, also reducing risks. The way I usually build my workflows is with Analytic Apps, because this way I never need to open the workflow to change my input and outpout files, which makes the process of using Alteryx very smooth and dynamic.

In my position, we always struggled comparing datasets between different sources, whether it was a different database server or it was a flat file like excel. With Alteryx, it is easy, efficient and quickly replicatable to use and compare data, easy to add changes on the fly.

One of the toughest changes that I've come across using Alteryx is the minute differences in the formula language against standard SQL. Some of the inputs are just barely different and it throws me off for a second.

Alteryx makes data preparation quick, easy and simple with new changes easily implemented. This was a big selling point versus other softwares.

The software is adaptable to all skill levels. People can be onboarded very easily and the sky is the limit with how far you can take it.

The AMP engine doesn't live up to expectations. While it runs your workflow fast, it generates incorrect answers, defeating the purpose.

My company uses Alteryx to perform ETL processes and schedule necessary data processing. It's incredibly fast to run and fast to spin up a solution.

Easy to learn and use. No need to have a coding background. If you can navigate a computer, you likely can build a workflow.

Honestly, the biggest downside is convincing people the benefits outway the cost.

We use the software as a force multiplier. We can have fewer people work on the data, allowing more time to analyze and make recommendations to key stakeholders.

It is very easy to start building workflows with drag-and-drop icons. I am also able to branch off at any point to drive other analyses. The time savings are amazing.

The cost. A license can be very expensive.

Gaining access to all the different data systems. Alteryx allows for easy joining of data and tables

Alteryx is a great business user tool that is no-code or low-code. It is powerful and can be as complicated as you want. It allows us to automate processes that would take days into minutes.

Developer pricing is a little tough when you are first getting started. Server analysis would also be a great place to improve upon.

Many accounting processes are in excel and we are using the tool to automate those processes.

Alteryx has been a game changer for my analytics work. Before, I would spend hours writing complex SQL queries and manually manipulating data in programs like MS Excel. Now, I can clean and query data quickly and painlessly with Alteryx's suite of tools. This program powers decision making in our organization and I am so happy to have the chance to use it.

Alteryx has very few downsides. Licenses might be expensive for smaller companies. There is a bit of a learning curve for more complex operations that will take time to learn.

My team faced issues with recurring requests that were taking time away from other tasks that needed to be completed. Alteryx gave us the power to automate the request responses and improve productivity during the busiest parts of the week.

I like that it is drag and drop and easy to use regardless of users technical skills.

The only negative I have about Alteryx is that I wish it had more formulas.

Currently using it Alteryx to clean and manipulate webscraped data to prepare it for loading into Databricks.

Visual representation of workflow and great error detection makes it very easy to implement solutions to remove repetitive tasks from my workday.

I need to learn more to make my workflows more robust and implement better practices to keep things from breaking when I hand my flows over to others. I know Alteryx is already making huge strides to make that easier!

I have several workstreams coming through me that used to require many people working on little slices all over the country, and I've managed to unify that workstream into a single set of hands and simplify/streamline/standardize the process to provide a more consistent experience.
