I used to use Excel for all my data analytics and reporting, repeating the same data cleanses and pivots every day. With Alteryx, I can build that process once, drop my data in, click run and I am done. This has cut down my report turnaround times by over 80%, allowing me to spend more time on tasks that matter.

At my company, we are not allowed direct database access with Alteryx. I would love it if Alteryx allowed a feature to connect to Tableau Server, so I could pull data directly through the connection instead of pulling down data from Tableau Server and then uploading the csv to Alteryx.

Alteryx has cut down report turn around times tremendously through automating data preparation. Additionally, I have been able to use Alteryx along with Sharepoint to create Sharepoint lists teams can complete their work in, and then push that work into Alteryx's email tool to automatically send emails out.

I enjoy the ease of use with the tools included in Alteryx, and I think that it makes data analysis much more streamlined. It allows people to leverage tools even if they have minimal or no experience with coding.

I think that overall the automation aspect can be improved, along with more options for some tools (such as email, simple ordering of when to run containers, etc).

Alteryx is most helpful by helping the user combine and clean various data sources prior to visualization. Think of yourself as a composer, and each input an instrument. The tools that Alteryx provides--of which there are many--help you refine and balance the sound.

One of the downsides to Alteryx is that its SQL writing environment could use improvements. While the program is a low-code/no-code platform, there are still many situations where SQL is incredibly helpful. It can sometimes be cumbersome to write the code directly in Alteryx, so an additional application specific to coding can be helpful.

For me, Alteryx solves the problem of silo'ed data sources elegantly. For projects requiring synthesis of many different data sources--some structured or unstructured, others automated or manual--Alteryx is a cornerstone in the work. For example, one can blend data from an Oracle database with data from Hadoop, or even data stored in an Excel workbook. It joins them all together and allows the user to combine them all into whatever outputs are necessary for the project. The outputs can be Tableau, Excel, CSV, etc which is incredibly useful as it can "feed" multiple dashboards that use the same data.

I can take everything I used to do in excel and automate it to the point that I just hit run and it does what used to take up my time in formatting.

Building things out in the python tool takes some getting used to.

Being able to pull data in from multiple sources, blend it, and prepare it to make data driven business decisions is a must. I used to spend hours in Excel for what I can do in Alteryx in minutes.

The fact that alteryx is so simple to use really makes it stand out from its competitors. The drag and drop onto a canvas is so intuitive and makes it so easy for the user to build their workflows!

There is some funcitonality that could be automated that would help new users out with. I also dislike that alteryx is so desktop heavy and should accelerate their cloud rollout.

I use alteryx to automate my dashboard inputs and that helps me save about 1000 hours annually!

Alteryx is very user friendly and great for beginners to data science.

I wish there was a way to pause and resume an iterative macro.
