Altair OptiStruct Reviews & Product Details

I usually use Altair OptiStruct for building and simulating FE models, and I appreciate its compatibility and user-friendliness, making it easy to adopt. It's very user-friendly, allowing new users to set up FE models with ease. I find that it helps me solve problems very fast and has strong capabilities for structural analysis, including optimizations. I use it every day for my FEA activities, and in our organization, we have at least 50 to 100 people using OptiStruct. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

For complex non-linear static analysis, Altair OptiStruct could have more accuracy. It also requires the HyperMesh interface to build the FE models. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Opitstruct is very easy to use solver and gives lot of options to solve complex engineering problems with accuracy. Help file of the solver has immense information and gives lot of in depth knowledge about the solver. Its robustness of solving problems on high performance computing clusters reduces solving time significantly. Optistruct has been significantly developed its capability with time. Sometime we face issues in solving highly non-linear implicit problems due to non-convergence of the model. I have used Optistruct for the topology optimization of one part of the complex dynamic mechanism. The step by step approach helps to provide detailed boundary condition of the physical problem. Simulation results provide enough understanding of the physical effect and stress generation in different connections.

Solving different errors due to the mess quality is time-consuming. A thorough understanding of the theory behind the FEA helps to solve different errors. Although there are software available that solve the problem without even manual meshing, I don't prefer the same because there are high chances of error if something goes well particularly in the complex mechanism. The strong points of OptiStruct are the Optimization Techniques like Topology, Topography, Shape, Size, Composite Shuffling.

The Setup options available are vast & can be completely be controlled to get the Desired & Feasible Output.

The major downside of OptiStruct is in the Analysis Setup.

Lots of Cards are to be assigned for carrying out the Analysis.

Remembering all the cards & assigning the required values is what i don't link about OptiStruct.
