It's nice to have, which cloaks your origin server at layer 3 allowing only legitimate requests (coming via Akamai edge server) to pass through. Preventing direct to origin attack, in case your origin IP/hostname is revealed. It's easy to use and IPs do not change very frequently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Akamai Site Shield? The product works in tandem with your firewall or any device where you can add ACLs, allowing only site-shield IPs. If you haven't put the ACLs, it's useless to have them. Updating IPs in your firewall/ACL device is manual and there are no automated integrations. If you fail to update the changed IPs, the old ones are removed from the site-shield map, reducing the map size of your traffic. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What problems is Akamai Site Shield solving and how is that benefiting you? We are solving the direct origin attack scenario. When security is pushed from perimeter to cloud, org becomes lenient on perimeter security. Attackers can bypass the cloud hitting the origin/perimeter directly to gain access.
