Also it can bifurgate between good and bad bot traffics. Morever you can also integrate it with difference tools like SIEM as well directly with API. **What do you dislike about Akamai Bot Manager?** There is nothing major to dislike but UI/UX is good but hard to remember the navigation for first time user. I will take someone to remember it about 3-4 weeks. Also pricing is higher. **What problems is Akamai Bot Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?** It provides us the better visibility in terms of bot traffic visiting our website / web applications. How many are good bots and bad bots. Also it gives the details like from where the bots has been originated. Statistics given is also useful like bot traffic from total traffic. Blocked requestes, allowed requests. Also Rate limiting configuration is a lot helpful. ### 2. Akamai has already categorized more than 3k bot signatures to identify the bots. Bot consol is intuitive and very flexible. The custom bot can be created per your criteria to add to the existing database of bots. A far more advanced action can be taken, instead of just allowing/denying. For example, the bot can be directed to a different website, tarpit[ed] or even slowed down. Bot manager premier(BMP) comes with capability which bearly has its equals in the market. Bot console is great, to view all the stats. **What do you dislike about Akamai Bot Manager?** If not tuned properly, you may get lots of false positives. We had to apply a lot of exceptions as different teams have different requirements. Few thresholds (Like session validation) are not visible to customers and you may need to coax the Akamai team to get the thresholds. BMP is costly given its very advanced detection but is apt to prevent a lot of attacks done with a botnet. For BMP, most of the configuration is handled by the akamai Team. **What problems is Akamai Bot Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?** Handling bots is one of the major problems with enterprise websites. Even a good bot can make website performance slow or render it unresposive. Not all bots are bad, hence Akamai bot manager gives us the capability to manage the bots needed and those not needed. It provides an additional layer of security where traditional solutions do not work. ### 8. They have improved the availability of self-service APIs that allow us to automate Akamai endpoint management via our fully programmatic devops stack, CI and CD. The Akamai solution is at the premier price point and requires good understanding to make the most of. **What do you dislike about Akamai Bot Manager?** Akamai has a tendency to charge "on-boarding fees" as a services charge to each time a new product is activated. There appears to be a tilt towards monetising every implementation both from licences and from service fees. We are customers that prefer to self-help and if we are capable of doing that, we shouldn't have to use the compulsory, paid on-boarding services. **Recommendations to others considering Akamai Bot Manager:** This is a great product for fast-growing and enterprise customers with clear budget availability for the premier DDoS, CDN and Bot-protection vendor. Managing these services from the same configurations on the same web-interface for all our properties allows my devops team to be lean and productive. This minimises end-user latency as opposed to using multiple point solutions from multiple vendors who are likely to be cheaper but leads to a degradation of the customer experience of our end customer **What problems is Akamai Bot Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?** We would have stared using Akamai earlier than in 2015. We had used Cloudfront, Cloudflare, MyraCloud (DDoS), Limelight, Edgecast (for CDN) until we moved to Akamai.
