You can choose based on your preference or based on cost. Many services have free trial and some services like Caching and MySQL has Free tier, which is perfect to get started or even for staying with free tier for long term for small project. Setting up new product is super easy and almost instant, all done from the browser. You also get generated code in your preferred language to get started and connect to your new service. Even when service is not free you can still fine a very reasonably priced offering from one of the 5 cloud providers. I also like the option to easily migrate data from existing on-premises database to the new hosted DB instances. You have access to logs and statistics like CPU and memory utilization so you can monitor your database performance. I needed to copy a postgres db from Heroku to Aiven, and was able to find some helpful documentation and complete the task easily. **What do you dislike about Aiven for Redis?** As with any transition to a new service or provider, it's hard to manage the migration of our existing providers to Aiven. **What problems is Aiven for Redis solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are looking to lower the cost of running our software by moving some of our databases to being hosted in Aiven. We're in the student loan industry and quickly scaling up as we gain lending licenses in every state. It has been a relief that we've been able to focus on application development without a dedicated database administrator. No way to leave the service safely.
