You get approved for a high spending limit but you're never really able to utilize it or even near that amount. Also, for example if you have a $4000 spending limit but you have 4-5 purchases that are already on your account for $100 each, it doesn't let yoy make any other purchases regardless off your approved limit until you pay off those other purchases.
