"Not for Newbies"
What do you like best about ColdFusion Builder?

Allows us to extract data from our database as needed. It works well for doing basic report writing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ColdFusion Builder?

There are limits to how much can be done without a solid understanding of SQL. This is not a tool for someone with limited report-writing experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Solid CF IDE"
What do you like best about ColdFusion Builder?

ColdFusion Builder has great code hints when developing. Since it is built on top of Eclipse, I also appreciate how you can utilize those plugins in the program. With the latest 2016 version, it also offers a great way of scanning your code for security. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ColdFusion Builder?

It is not as fast when compared to other text editors like Sublime. Because it is based on Eclipse, it also feels a little clunky when compared to new editors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Buggy, takes time to load"
What do you like best about ColdFusion Builder?

I like the fact that it comes with Intellisense and also the ability to configure servers and test out the codes directly in the IDE. It also comes tightly integrated with the ColdFusion. Step-through debugging is also another interesting feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ColdFusion Builder?

There is a lot not to like here, ranging from being buggy, lags, very slow often times and Adobe not being interested in the product. And also when the lines of code are 1000 and above, it misbehaves or hangs. The Intellisense sometimes misstates the wrong syntaxes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Web Application Development made Easy"
What do you like best about ColdFusion Builder?

PDF generating feature is possible without any additional coding and such a document can be sent to another client or saved on the disk. It also comes up with Apache Tomcat server built-in.

Developers can easily publish their ColdFusion component as a Representational State Transfer (REST) Web service with built-in support for all HTTP methods, along with JSON and XML serialization and de-serialization. Hence it is great for small mobile apps with limited functionality.

Newer versions come up with language enhancement help in readability and code quality.

Adding social network features on the website is pretty coll feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ColdFusion Builder?

Use of tricky syntax probably difficult for programmers

Quite a lot of bugs, often crashes.

It has a very small talent pool compared to other tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Coldfusion is a simplified approach to web solutions with severe limitations."
What do you like best about ColdFusion Builder?

It's very easy to take an idea from inception to execution and has drastically fewer prerequisites and barriers to entry compared to an average web stack. Simply using IIS and SQL Server, a small company can quickly and relatively simply meet most of their administrative side web needs and perhaps even implement client facing sites if the requirements are not very vigorous. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ColdFusion Builder?

Coldfusion is old. There are many alternatives that do what it does and do it better. In a legacy environment at a small non technical firm it can often still make sense. That is why I don't say that it is completely obsolete. But it is limited. Time and again I find myself working around what it can't do or altogether having to abandon ambitious features that could only be implemented in a more robust environment. I would never recommend it to a company that is just beginning development of a modern website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"There are Better ColdFusion Editors (Review of ColdFusion Builder not ColdFusion Application Server)"
What do you like best about ColdFusion Builder?

The ColdFusion syntax auto-complete is the most robust of any editor I've used. The inline error linting is also fairly accurate and helpful; more than I've experienced with other editors for CFML.

Version 3 was much easier to install and set up than the previous versions. It's built for ColdFusion developers, so if that's strictly what you're working on, it offers more features than you're gonna find elsewhere and doesn't require the customization that other editors do to support ColdFusion. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ColdFusion Builder?

It's an IDE. I prefer a code editor. That's really what it comes down to.

It's ugly, bloated (the download is massive), and limited in use outside of strictly ColdFusion projects.

It lacks the speed, customization, versatility, and many of the fantastic little features that make editors like Sublime Text 3, Atom (and even for a period of time Brackets), so popular.

The PhoneGap integration seems super out of place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"very good programming tool"
What do you like best about ColdFusion Builder?

without being well known, Cold Fusion is an excellent tool for developing web applications. It is a scripting language, like ASP, but much simpler to use and learn, and tag-based structure is very familiar to people accustomed to HTML. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ColdFusion Builder?

It is located on fewer servers.

The only problem there is with this wonder is that even though some of the great use it is present in very few servers, because of cost it is much higher than php or ASP (both free) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Mark-up language that makes web development easy"
What do you like best about ColdFusion Builder?

Tag based development is the key component that makes developer to learn ColdFusion easier with a small learning curve. Adobe ColdFusion Builder provides all the language specific features required for the developers. Also, every new version releases come up with the supports of latest web technology. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ColdFusion Builder?

Lack of solid frameworks is the first thing that let me down. Also, license is expensive and also IDEs. It's still buggy and have to download update patches to solve the issue. Also, market demand for CFML developers is lower than PHP or Python. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Powerful features without addons"
What do you like best about ColdFusion Builder?

The best part of ColdFusion, in my opinion, is the fact that it works out of the box with so many features. You don't have to install an extra library just to get PDF reports. Its built-in. Same for ajax, forms, remote protocols, and more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ColdFusion Builder?

The cost to get any version beyond standard is a bit pricey, but if you compare the overall cost vs free options that then require you to purchase extra libraries, the cost becomes a bargain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Still simple and useful but might be dying"
What do you like best about ColdFusion Builder?

I love ColdFusion syntax. I've been working with it for about 10 years, and I think it's very easy to read and quick to develop new things. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about ColdFusion Builder?

The industry has a negative view on the language for some reason, most likely from way back when it was so easy to use that a lot of non-developers started using it for development and ruined the reputation. There are probably better lower cost alternatives available today, but it's still an amazing product, although the latest version has been getting some bad press.
