"A strong player in the eLearning content providers"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Adobe Captivate?

I switched to Adobe Captivate after doing a lot of relevant research so that no money or no energy goes is waste. I have to say that this has to be the best choice we have made for the betterment and growth of our company and I am highly impressed. It has allowed us to deploy so much learning in terms of graded content, videos, questions, slides, topics and so much much more. Moreover, we have employed this powerful and useful tool in some of the relevant departments of our business and there the product has been working quite efficiently and effectively. What do you dislike about Adobe Captivate?

I feel that the users have to take some time in grasping and learning all of the features of this software which consumes a lot of our time.

I also hope and wish that the variable copying plus the formatting would have been made a little easier to make the overall experience more intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Tons of bugs and a 90s User Interface"
0.5/5
What do you like best about Adobe Captivate?

I like the free themes that come with Adobe Captivate. I like the built-in tutorials. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe Captivate?

Creating responsive modules is not intuitive in the slightest. Other instructional design programs are light-years beyond Adobe Captivate in their ability to design for mobile users. Captivate crashes continuously, and when you try to re-open the crashed file, the file is often corrupt. There is no automatic backup like other adobe programs. All-in-all, Adobe Captivate needs a revamp or an overhaul. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Long Time Happy User"
5/5
What do you like best about Adobe Captivate?

For years, we have been using Adobe Captivate to create internal and external training materials, from product launch training modules to software demonstrations. We also incorporate text-to-speech as well as human voice-overs to present the content. We also include activities within internal training modules to engage the sales and support teams in the learning process. The tool is relatively easy to use once the learning curve has been crossed. Taking additional training courses would be beneficial to power users to gain greater insight into all the options within the tool. Enjoy the various output options as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe Captivate?

Not all of the options within the tool are intuitive and require some research into how to implement them appropriately. As mentioned, it does have a learning curve. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Adobe Captivate?

Learning the basics of Captivate is fairly intuitive and it can create a nice looking finished product with some interesting interactions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe Captivate?

It's very glitchy and creating advanced actions can be very repetitive and cumbersome. It can also be difficult to navigate when have many different layers on one frame. We switched to Articulate Storyline and it's much faster and simpler to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Captivate is a good eLearning author platform — it’s just a few features away from being great."
3.5/5
What do you like best about Adobe Captivate?

The best thing about this platform is its approachability — people with low technological ability can still make basic presentations that export to non-proprietary file formats (HTML). Under that, it also holds a decent amount of functionality for tech-savvy users who want to incorporate responsive web objects and JavaScript into their projects. It does a pretty good job balancing the needs of both these audiences — I rarely feel limited by what I can accomplish in the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Adobe Captivate?

Some basic functionality features are either needlessly hidden or not currently possible in Captivate.

For instance, I need to log in with my Adobe ID to use my license, and I can create custom workspaces for my workflow, but if I get a new computer, my workspaces aren't tied to my Adobe ID and I need to set them up all over again.

It's also a bit crazy to me that I can't zoom in and out on slides with a mouse or trackpad — I need to pick a zoom level from a menu or use a keyboard shortcut for best fit, which is fine about 75% of the time until I need to make some changes to small objects.

If I'm printing handouts, I can't set the slide print size before it publishes a Word document, so I have to resize all of my slides so they aren't in a 4:3 aspect ratio.

These are usually minor inconveniences, but it's a bit baffling that Adobe can release an entire new authoring experience in Captivate with VR but not make these options more intuitive and functional. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
