The transitions and other text effects are much more dynamic than the default transitions and text effects in standard video editing software. We have much more control over the timeline and playback along with layers that help fill in select areas with alternate video content. I like that we can quickly switch out media assets using layered objects in the timeline. **What do you dislike about Adobe After Effects?** Adobe After Effects is more complicated to use than a standard video editing application. The timeline isn't as intuitive to work with and for resizing video clips. It can often be confusing to keep track of all the media assets since they can be layered within a number of other objects. I can’t imagine a day that I don’t use After Effects. The ease, the customization, the integration with Creative Cloud and other Adobe products, the output and rendering capabilities and ability to connect with so many user plugins and scripts; of all these and more are why I love After Effects. It’s the ultimate tool and friend, the ultimate “paintbrush” of a motion designer, and it never leaves me hanging out to dry. I keep coming back to it daily, and I never run out of ideas or challenges to keep me focused. It’s been with me for over 15 years, and I foresee it being with me for at least that and then some. Thanks Adobe! **What do you dislike about Adobe After Effects?** With all that Adobe can handle and all the iterations that After Effects has seen, the one thing missing from the software is innate built in node based rendering. At some point, network rendering was available, but was shortly discontinued. Adobe has yet to pick up that gauntlet, but when it does, it will unlock and unleash the power of rendering beautiful pieces of art in a much shorter amount of time via node-rendering. **What problems is Adobe After Effects solving and how is that benefiting you?** Being that I use it daily, we’re constantly solving for quick turnaround projects - Adobe and After Effects has made it easy to integrate quick reference presets, essential graphics libraries, and connects to Cloud based libraries for ease of compositing and video creativity. It reduces the amount of process, by leveraging what it’s good at, making more room for the creativity to flow from the user. It’s certainly the best tool I’ve seen that can handle the workflows I’ve thrown at it over the years and just won’t stop! ### 19. The ability to import files from other software within the Adobe suite also saves a lot of time and is an excellent implementation. Importing a file directly from Adobe Illustrator with all its layers ready to use is an excellent way to start a composition and dive directly into the project at hand. **What do you dislike about Adobe After Effects?** Adobe After Effects definitely has a steep learning curve. It takes time to master it if you are a complete novice. Using effects, keyframes, masks, etc. can be very difficult for someone who is just starting or who has no experience or knowledge in animation. It's ridiculously high. Render times can be slow which makes the process painful at times. However running on a quarter resolution can really help this - as well as skipping frames on preview which is easily done via the means of the preferences menu.
