I manage technical documents like API documentation, system design documents, statements of work, and sometimes even PDF architecture diagrams. The ability to add threaded comments to documents to preserve formatting is both useful and necessary. The e-signature flow works well. Signing a document, like an NDA or contractor agreement, isn’t a cumbersome 10-step process. I can easily sign the document and continue working. One of my goals for the day during a sprint is to minimize interruptions. I use the “Combine Files” feature more than I anticipated. It’s easy to merge documents. For example, I can easily append a document to a proposal. This feature is useful because I don’t need to use another tool to achieve the same end. Surprisingly, the platform has a good OCR for scanned documents. When we receive out vendor contracts that are signed on paper, the ability to search and copy clauses and clauses is, surprisingly, a very useful feature. **What do you dislike about Adobe Acrobat?** my computer (pretty good specs), Acrobat is slow when opening PDFs, and that is just a PDF opening time problem. If the file is large and has many images, or has a lot of layers and diagrams, Acrobat is especially slow. Lag is present when I scroll through a 200 page technical document, and I don't get lag problems when using lighter PDF readers. I do have some problems with the UI. It has some features that I consider to be hidden and that I don't think have been placed correctly. I have been using this application for a long time, so unfortunately I know where everything is. I am not ashamed to say that when I am onboarding, and my colleagues say "how do I do X," the answer is far from obvious. I do think that the price is a problem. For everything it does, it should be cheaper. It is especially overpriced for small teams and smaller and individual contributors. In a way, Adobe has become a brand, and I just don't think the application is worth this much. **What problems is Adobe Acrobat solving and how is that benefiting you?** The challenge is to make technical documentation collaborative, but not chaotic. Spending time across the disciplines of engineering, product, and legal, and all of them touching the same PDF, requires something something to keep the document cohesive and organized. Email chains get messy with all the inline feedback. From my experience, Acrobat is the tool of choice to having the document commented on and organized for easy retrieval of all feedback without anything being overlooked. Acrobat solves the problem of signing pdfs and moving on to the next task greater than its competing software. Also, the conversions of Word to PDF and PDF to Excel, when the PDF to Excel conversion is to extract table data for insertion into an Excel version of the PDF for client use/feedback, is trustworthy enough to include these conversions in my deliverables. There is some value of an Acrobat assembled PDF retaining its inner integrity of appearance to every recipient. For the type of work I do, value is appreciated where the inner fidelity of a technologically assembled PDF is retained and respected. ### 41.
