Reporting, while solid, can be unintuitive in spots. Some insights require digging or exporting data rather than being immediately visible in dashboards.

I find AC easy to use and appreciate its ability to integrate with Google Sheets.

The pricing is a bit costly. Currently, the ROI is not as good as it should be. But I think that is more because I have not optimized my emails and automations.

We were using Constant Contact a few years ago before switching to AC. At that time, we switched because we wanted more automation, integration, and better performance. We did a lot of research before settling on AC. Price vs features vs reviews.

ActiveCampaign can be a little slow to load sometimes, mainly the automation screens can take a little time to respond. The automation reporting can also be a little tricky.

ActiveCampaign takes manual outreach tasks and makes it quick and easy by enabling us to automate the process in a way that feels natural to the recipient. We can easily run A/B tests and optimise our campaigns.

Straightforward integrations with CRM and Product for data foundation, automation capabilities.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

Don't trust their sales and verify everything yourself. When negotiating our initial contract the sales person didn't look out for our interests, avoided mentioning critical, very recent changes such as how contact limit is calculated for new accounts, and was solely focused on getting information about our business that would help them justify a high price and no discount. Once we brought the withheld information up, we were told that it's actually our responsibility to read all their articles about any changes on their website before signing the contract and they have no obligation to inform us.

Support keeps closing conversations after a couple minutes of inactivity.

**What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?**

one feature i daily use is the marketing calendar. Coordinating across multiple teams including content, PR, digital and product marketing can get chaotic. Activecampaign helps me maintain a clear, department-wide view of what is launching and when. It keeps everyone in my team aligned and prevents overlap. The budgeting tools provided are a major differentiator. I can assign top-down budgets to different teams, track open to spend , ensure compliance and manage workflows and approvals without chasing spreadsheets or emails.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

I dont have any significant dislikes at this point. everything has worked as expected.

**What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the biggest advantages for me is how easy it is to manage complex, multi channel programs. I'm often juggling online ads, social campaigns, email sequences, video launches and virtual events at the same time. Activecampaign helps be build and optimize all my program assets from landing pages, emails , campaigns and track objectives, performance and costs.  I dont have to manage multiple disconnected systems.

**What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?**

The versatility. The individual tags that can be assigned. The link tracking. The reports and the app, where I always have quick insight into the open rate, etc. I write my newsletter once a week. Templates are easy to copy, and once everything is set up, it works quite simply.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

The price. From 500 subscribers, the price rises rapidly. However, with 500 subscribers, you obviously don't earn enough money to easily pay this monthly price. It would be better if it started at 1000 subscribers or if there was an intermediate level, like 750 subscribers. And of course, you first have to figure out where everything is. There are simply numerous possibilities, and this can be very confusing, especially for beginners. I don't find the tutorials really helpful. It works great with Wordpress.

**What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This question is poorly translated into German and makes no sense. If you are asking about issues with Active Campaign, then for me as a small business owner, it is certainly the price. From a technical aspect, I haven't had any problems so far - fortunately.

I use ActiveCampaign to manage all my email marketing and automations, and it's clearly one of the most powerful tools I've tested.

What I particularly appreciate:

🔁 The power of automations: you can create very advanced scenarios, with fine conditional logic, personalized journeys, and multiple triggers. This allows you to automate a large part of your communication while remaining highly relevant.

🎯 Advanced segmentation: ActiveCampaign allows you to segment your database extremely precisely. You can cross-reference behaviors, tags, custom fields, past interactions... This makes campaigns much more targeted and effective.

📊 The richness of collected data: the tool allows you to track and structure a lot of information about your contacts (behavior, engagement, history, scoring...). You can thus gradually refine your strategy and adapt your messages according to the level of maturity or interest.

In summary, it's a demanding but extremely powerful tool, particularly suitable if you want to implement a structured, segmented, and intelligently automated email marketing strategy.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

💰 The price: it's quite an expensive tool. You really need to leverage its power for the investment to be worthwhile. If you only use basic features, it's probably not the most suitable tool.

🧠 The complexity: even though the interface has improved a lot in recent years, it remains a dense tool. When you're completely new to email marketing or automation, getting started can be intimidating.

A lot of marketing tools either lean too heavy into complexity or they oversimplify and limit what i can actually build. But Active campaign hits a sweet spot. It balances power with usability. The segmentation engine is a very bit highlight. I'm able to build segments using behavior, engagement and custom data fields makes it easy to create tailored experiences that actually feel personalized. The platform's speed deserves a mention, queries and automations run efficiently which matters a lot when i'm working with larger datasets.

debugging takes extra cycles that could be avoided with cleared logs or more tracking.

**What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

one challenge i previously had was acting on in-product events quickly like nudging a user who hasnt completed setup or re-engaging someone who is becoming inactive. It lets me trigger messages in near real-time based on these events which helps reduce churn and boosts feature adoption. Instead of building or maintaining internal workflow automation tools, i leverage activecampaign's infrastructure. It frees up engineering time for actual product work while ensuring customer comms stay dynamic and responsive.

I actually thought that my deliverability would increase which I don't find that it has but the ActiveCampaign support group on Facebook has been kind enough to guide me through this struggle.

ActiveCampaign is a feature-rich, multi-faceted tool that could be a perfect fit for certain organisations. I especially enjoy their builder. I find it very intuitive to use. Their support is also very hands-on and thorough, especially when you are new to building automations and workflows. I was using this on a regular basis while I was a customer of ActiveCampaign; however, I have left over a couple of years ago.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

I ultimately ended up switching out of ActiveCampaign because they are way too expensive compared to their competitors. Also, over the years I have seen them try to do everything and therefore they end up being very clunky and don't really do anything well. Their attempt to combine CRM and pipeline into their existing email marketing, I believe, is lacking. So, for my use case, I only used their email marketing, which is actually very good, but you still have to pay for all the features, even if you don't use them. They simply price me out, and I think they price out many others.

**What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ActiveCampaign was allowing me to automate pipelines and email marketing. It allowed me to take new contacts from my landing pages and put them into email flows to encourage them to stay in contact and ultimately become customers.

Now that the onboarding has completed, there is no dedicated account manager and it’s difficult to reach a support person. The email builder can also be finicky with its formatting.

Improved automation efficiency and list building for Facebook. TBD as we’ve only recently launched our campaigns.

the best about activecampaign is its scalability, when i'm pushing large contact batches or running multiple automations in parallel, the system stays stable. I believe it is one of those rare platforms that give both engineers and business teams what they need. The UI makes it easy for me to build and adjust journeys on their own and reduces any engineering bottlenecks. the platform's focus on data quality management is amazing. it reduces the burden by providing great inbuilt tools that help maintain clean and reliable dataset.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

the API is great and solid, but the rate limits at times feel tight for high volume operations when syncing large datasets. This requires batching strategies sometimes.

**What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Activecampaign gives me a single system of record for every lead and contact complete with their full interaction history, email engagement and scoring changes and profile updates. I get a 360 degree b=view of each lead. It helps me with being more consistent and scalable customer journeys. i had multiple tools that didnt talk to each other well and always requiring custom middleware, but activecampaign connects very easily via API and native integrations.

It’s definitely powerful once you get familiar with it, but a smoother onboarding experience and simpler navigation in a few areas would make it even better.

With the help of automation builder, i can create anything from simple drip campaigns to complex multi-step workflows without needing help from IT or marketing ops. And when i makes adjustments based on performance, the platform makes testing and iteration straightforward. I especially like how all customer interactions like emails, website activity and actions taken in campaigns are synced in one place. I also love how the platform allocates pipeline and revenue credit across all marketing activities that touched an opportunity along the way. It has helped me run a tighter more accountable sales process. It has made my pipeline more predictable.

There are moments where it feels more marketing centric than sales centric. support can be a hit or miss depending on the complexity of the issue.

It solves me the disconnect between the marketing activities and revenue impact. It used to be difficult to understand which campaigns actually influenced pipeline. With revenue analytics, i get a complete picture of how each activity contributes to an opportunity as it progresses. This leads to better alignment with marketing, more informed budgeting decisions and more accurate forecasting. It benefits me by improving my sales productivity, giving me cleaner and more reliable pipeline insights and creating a more predictable and scalable revenue process. I find Active Campaign to be very professional and absolutely adaptable to any size of company. Even if you start small - you are equipped for growth right from the start. No need to change tools and therefore no need to retrain when you need more powerful marketing software. A very stable solution for me as a business owner.

You need a bit of marketing knowledge to understand the logic of the tool and to find and build all the different building blocks for an optimized customer experience. You can really build anything, but first you need to understand the how and why.

What is most helpful about ActiveCampaign is how automation friendly and integration ready the platform is. It is built in a way that doesnt fight me, it actually supports my mindset. The automation builder is honestly one of the cleanest i have used. The webhooks are reliable, the API documentation is solid and syncing between systems doesn't feel fragile. The reporting dashboards provide the right level of details.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

Once an automation grows beyond basic branching, it is not always easy to troubleshoot. Kind of hard to simulate or replicate edge cases. I would love more granular logs or trace view.

**What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With Activecampaign's API and webhook support, it is easy to connect other internal systems without building fragile or overly complex integrations. I had to write integration scripts to handle basic segmentation or messaging logic which need support from engineering teams. But activecampaign now gives me the power to mange these flows with engineering involvement.

I like the automation aspect of it. And the tag offerings, and how that can trigger certain automations. It also integrates with the quiz software I use.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

The new AI stuff can be confusing and I haven't found it that helpful so far. I also haven't dug into it to see how it could help us more.

Marketing – staying in contact with people who want to stay in contact with us. The software makes emailing easier.

What's invaluable about marketing with ActiveCampaign is that I'm able to automate the communication with my community, as well as deliver a smoother client experience for my online products. My membership space practically functions all on its own every month, requiring just one update per month.

There are various little things that I want to be able to do in ActiveCampaign. For example, to be able to make a change to an email template and have all emails that use this template be updated.. Or transition an email campaign made into new newest email designer with a single click instead of re-creating the email.

I find it a bit difficult to create emails from a graphic standpoint. I would like to have simpler and more intuitive templates available, so that I can manage both the content and the images more easily. The organization of emails could also be improved, as for those who send many like us, it becomes a bit confusing to read them back. I also find the whole part about lists, exceptions, and rules for including/excluding contacts from campaigns a bit complicated.

The reporting is truly terrible. There is not enough ability to report on specific deal stages. There is also a limitation with automation where deal automation is not easy because it needs to be connected to contact information. The connection between contacts and accounts is clunky at best and creates a lot of junk data.

A critical issue is that there is no way to stagger send campaigns. Many mailing software solutions have this built in.

I am easily able to manage the sales pipeline. Task management is somewhat ok and reasonable to manage. Contact management is easy (CRM).

in Active campaign, role based access control is cleanly implemented. i can restrict access to specific features or data based on the user roles which keeps the whole environment secure and prevents any accidental changes. It allows me to test new automations, integrations and workflow changes without risking any disruptions in production.

ActiveCampaign is the lifeblood of my business. Without it, my marketing efforts would not be nearly as successful and I would not be able to message my program prospects with relevant information on a timely basis. And Active Intelligence is like having a market researcher, copywrite, graphic designer, and consultant on my marketing team.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

Although I am able to obtain the information I need, the reporting function seems a little clunky. On the creative side, Active Intelligence doesn't seem to have much creativity when designing a campaign.

My primary reason for moving to Active Campaign was deliverability and open rates. According to recent statistics, my previous CRM averaged 47% deliverability while ActiveCampaign averaged in the high 90s. I like how modules & graphics can be saved for later use. I also like the ability to send out Test emails to my team before sending out a campaign. We also ended up in a tricky renewal situation, which the Customer Support team helped us resolve, which we were very appreciative for and it ultimately kept us with ActiveCampaign.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

The subject lines for linked emails sometimes do not work perfectly, requiring the email & subject to be entered in again. Also, I wish there was an Excel export option for clicks on emails, and wish that I could send out more than 5 Test emails at a time (I send out Tests to my 6 colleagues, over the 5 Test email limit). I've also found that scheduled emails sometimes don't send out on their own, requiring me to send them manually. Last thing, we tried using Custom Reporting but didn't find it useful due to the fields only pulling actions that DID happen (like a contact did click/open an email in a given period of time), when we would have found more use of data for things that DID NOT happen (like the contacts who have not clicked/opened an email in a given period of time). I submitted this as an idea to the engineering team.

The automation builder is the standout feature: it’s very powerful for creating complex, behavior-based journeys, segmentation, and lifecycle campaigns that scale.

Support during critical incidents can be disappointing. We had a major issue where we needed a fast resolution, and we felt left on our own by support at the time. When the platform is mission-critical, responsive help in urgent situations is essential, and that experience hurt our confidence.

ActiveCampaign helps us centralize and automate our email marketing and lifecycle communication for a database of around 70,000 contacts. We use AC mostly for email newsletters and event invitations.  Their campaign and automation builder is easy to use with lots of options.  It does everything you would need it to do in a email service, plus they offer landing pages which are versitile and getting better regularly.

Customer support is easy to get thru a chat and email. Integrates with Zapier to make things very easy as well for other projects.

I would like to use FB Conversion API on landing pages, that does not seem to be available outside of just the pixel code.

The visual automation builder makes it straightforward to create flows for sign-ups, onboarding, and lead nurturing without needing developer support. The built-in forms and email designer help us launch new lead-capture points quickly while keeping our messaging consistent across touchpoints. Segmentation and automation rules also give us enough flexibility to trigger relevant messages based on behaviour and profile data, which is important for our audiences.

The interface can feel a bit cluttered and inconsistent, which makes onboarding new colleagues slower than it needs to be. To their defence, the UI has recently been updated, which makes it much smoother overall, but it does take some time to adjust to.

There are constant bots requesting access to our list - currently, over 300K. It's a lot of effort to clean them out regularly. Only recently did I find out that's not normal. The team did offer to assist when I told them emails were not being delivered, though the system said they were.

It actually created problems by not having a way for us to log into our account when we got locked out during the holiday season. It took weeks of back and forth before we were let in mere days before Christmas. By then, our resolve had been crushed, and our busiest revenue-building season of the year was already over. It almost cost us the company. I was surprised no one even offered to refund our month's fee, even though we couldn't get in.

Biggest downsides for me are that the email designer and form designer are a bit outdated, especially compared to other platforms. I also do not care for the AI chatbot for help and support, I appreciated the days of being able to talk to a live representative when I first signed up.

The segmentation capabilities are outstanding - I can target my audience with precision based on behavior, engagement, and custom data, which has significantly improved our email performance and conversion rates.
I also love the seamless CRM integration that keeps our sales and marketing teams aligned. The ability to track the entire customer journey from first touch to closed deal in one platform has been a game-changer for our business. I use it Frequency!

However, once you invest time in their excellent training resources and support documentation, it becomes much more manageable.
