**What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?**

I found that creating automations in ActiveCampaign to be very intuitive especially with the workflow builder to streamline the process. I also like that there are a number of segmentation options within the account.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

I noticed that more reporting options where added, don't dislike anything at this time.

**What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ActiveCampaign is helping us send marketing messages to our customers about new products that are being released monthly. I also have an automation setup for when a user submits a contact message about price they receive a message based on their location that they entered into the field.

**What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?**

I absolutely love ActiveCampaign! It’s a powerful and comprehensive tool that is also straightforward to use and easy to learn.

One of my favorite features is the robust automations and app integrations. I rarely need to rely on zaps, even for fairly complex automations, because ActiveCampaign integrates seamlessly with all the major tools I use.

The interface is very user-friendly as well. We’re able to get new employees set up and working quickly with pipelines, deal cards, and contact pages.  Our team is in here DAILY - from customer service, sales to client managers - this is how we track all data from lead to customer.

Additionally, customer service has always been extremely helpful and quick to respond whenever I’ve needed assistance.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

There isn’t much I dislike about ActiveCampaign, but if I had to be particular, there are a few areas that could use improvement. First, setting up advanced reporting is quite challenging, and for our needs, the built-in reporting features fall a bit short. I would really appreciate the option to run reports based on when a tag was added or removed. While this is technically possible with advanced reporting, adding additional layers—something that’s straightforward with advanced search—becomes unnecessarily complicated.

Second, the Chrome extension is quite unreliable. I have never been able to get the search by deal function to work properly.

Lastly, the platform tends to run slowly. We do have a large number of contacts, so that might be contributing to the issue, but ActiveCampaign often becomes very sluggish.

**What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ActiveCampaign is a huge  piece of our day to day work flow.  It helps us track and monitor our email marketing, manage projects, communicate about contacts from lead to member, automate complex membership functions, email flows and marketing initiatives.

**What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?**

We’ve been using ActiveCampaign mainly for email marketing and customer journey automation, and overall it’s been a strong addition to our stack.

The automation builder is what stands out most. It’s genuinely powerful and flexible, and once everything is set up correctly, it runs reliably in the background. We’ve been able to build fairly complex workflows for onboarding, lead nurturing, and re-engagement without needing engineering support. That alone has saved us a lot of time and helped keep our campaigns more consistent. It also matches what many users point out: automation is easily the biggest strength here.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

That said, it isn’t the most beginner-friendly tool. The initial setup, along with some of the more advanced features, can feel overwhelming—especially if you’re new to marketing automation. There’s definitely a learning curve, and it may take a little time before you start seeing real value.

Pricing can also creep up as your contact list grows, so it’s worth keeping an eye on as you scale, particularly if you’re growing quickly.

**What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Overall, ActiveCampaign strikes a nice balance between power and usability. If you’re willing to invest some time upfront, it becomes a very dependable system for managing and scaling your marketing efforts. We’ve been able to create fairly complex workflows for onboarding, lead nurturing, and re-engagement without needing engineering support. That alone has saved a lot of time and improved consistency in our campaigns. This aligns with what a lot of users highlight—automation is easily the biggest strength here.We used ActiveCampaign to automate onboarding emails for new SaaS users, including a 7-day drip sequence and behavior-based triggers (e.g., email opened but no signup → follow-up nudge).
The visual automation builder made it easy to set up conditional flows based on user actions. We also integrated it with our backend using webhooks to track events like signup and feature usage.
When a user signed up, they entered an onboarding flow. If they didn’t complete profile setup within 24 hours, we triggered a reminder email. If they completed it, they were moved to a different nurture sequence focused on feature adoption.
As a software engineer, I integrated ActiveCampaign with our product backend using APIs and set up event-based triggers.

**What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?**

I’ve been using ActiveCampaign for a while now, and honestly, it’s become one of the most valuable tools in my business. What I really like is how powerful and flexible the automations are. Once you get the hang of it, you can build really advanced workflows that connect perfectly with your CRM, online store, and forms. It’s like having a full marketing system running in the background, taking care of all the repetitive tasks.

The email editor is clean and easy to use, and I love how the templates can be reused and customized. Their support team has also been great — whenever I had a question, they actually took the time to walk me through it instead of just sending a link to a help article. It’s also nice to see that the platform scales with you. As my list and campaigns have grown, ActiveCampaign has kept up without any issues.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

That said, it’s not all perfect. The interface can feel a bit overwhelming at first because there are so many options and settings. It definitely takes some time to understand how everything fits together. Sometimes it also feels like there are too many clicks involved just to do something simple. If you’re new to automation or email marketing, the learning curve can be steep.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the price goes up as your contact list grows, and some of the more advanced reports are only available on higher plans. Every now and then the platform feels a bit slow, especially when you’re working with large automations. But overall, these are small trade-offs for what you get.

For me, ActiveCampaign strikes the right balance between power and usability. Once you’ve set it up, it runs like a well-oiled machine — perfect for anyone who takes their email marketing seriously.

We have been using Active Campaign for a very long time. The deliverability of my emails is particularly important to me. As far as I can tell, AC is still the leader in this area.

**What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?**

Love that ActiveCampaign makes it easy to email my contacts, no matter what part of the sales process they are in. It connects to my other tech easily, and it was easy to implement and setup. I use it on a regular basis, and have been able to outsource some of my ActiveCampaign tasks, and I love that it was easy to grant my team access as needed. I haven't needed to access Customer Support at this stage.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

The only downside I can think of are that it's harder to get emails sent out on specific dates (I would LOVE to be able to get ActiveCampaign to send out a specific email template according to dates of a recurring event in my Google Calendar), but I got help from a friend to make a workaround for this one.

**What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communicating with my clients and network, according to their previous behaviours or where they are in the customer journey. I love that I can segment my contacts and thus send only the emails relevant to them.

The interface is user-friendly, and I appreciate both the support provided and the easy access to information. Also the integration with other CRMs is quite simple.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

I don't have any issues with the current options and functionalities, but I would suggest adding an option to create a form that cannot be tracked. For example, I have a form used by the sales team to add clients to our newsletter, but this process ends up tracking their activity on the website. If there were a way to use a form with a 'do not track' option, it would be much better. At the moment, we have to use a private browser for each record, which is not ideal.

**What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use it to set up email automations and run email campaigns, as well as to create forms and landing pages. I also use it for lead scoring and to connect with other CRMs, allowing me to synchronize data and build automations based on user actions.

Active Campaign's automation software is intuitive and easy to use. We are a non-profit who use AC in completely out of the box ways.  It's adaptability has made tracking our training possible. I also love the coaching and training we receive whenever we need it. Creating landing pages easily that integrate fully with our CRM and integrating with other software is icing on the cake.

Customizing the forms is not as easy as with google forms. But, the integrative possibilities make it worth it.

**What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?**

The easy of use creating engaging newsletters and/or emails. The sales functionality to follow up on new leads and possibilities and to be able to 'lead score' every contact to segmenting the hot leads vs the newsletter subscribers. 

Next to this we can create complex automation funnels to complete automate our sales process. The sales agents can see which contacts have opend an email / clicked on a link and sofort. 

I also like the fact that there are a vast number of integration possibilities in this tool. And with the addition of for instance zapier you can basically connect all you other tools to this system. It's terrific.

Really smart business tool that i an amazing addition to our sales and marketing process.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

Segmentation of contacts is somewhat counter intuitive. But when you understand how it works it becomes easier. This for us had a bit of a learning curve.

I very much like the CRM system where I can put everything about the individual clients incl. scores. Also the marketing automation is very useful and saves lots of time.

No Whatsapp integration yet. Around 70% of my conversations with the clients are via Whatsapp.

I really like the intuitive interface of ActiveCampaign. If I need to find any new use case, I don't have to search the web because everything is available right within the platform. Also, the domain integration is quite secure, and it prechecks in case of any failure when sending emails, which is great. The features and interface really stand out to me.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

ActiveCampaign platforms can sometimes be slow, especially when accessing the URL. The pages do not load fast, and it can take a bit longer than expected, which makes it less intuitive and fast than it needs to be.

I use ActiveCampaign for optimizing my marketing and sending sequences to prospects and clients. It solves the problem of needing separate tools by handling all email campaigns and GTM setup, with an intuitive interface and secure domain integration.

**What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?**

I love how easy it is to customize the emails, how there is a snapshot showcasing campaign performance at the top of the campaigns section, how customer support is quick to respond, how easy the automations are to set up and implement, and the ease of integrating the forms.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

I am unsure if this is just a problem on my end, but whenever I send an email with bolded text, the bolded text ends up being a font size larger than the rest of the text on mobile. It looks very odd and does not reflect the email preview either. Also, while the forms are easy to integrate, customizing the forms can be difficult even while using CSS.

**What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?**

ActiveCampaign is helping get our newsletter out there and use automations for a decent price. This allows us to reach more people and increase potential donors.

It’s worth putting in the effort to build automated email campaigns that are genuinely effective and deliver the results you’re aiming for—the performance has been great. Their support is also excellent: responsive, very helpful, and easy to work with.

It has a solid learning curve, but getting everything integrated on my own—without help from their support team—takes a lot of time. Also, their prices have jumped recently.

Because of its complexity and learning curve, new users may find the platform intimidating. Where the cost rises as the number of contacts grows. I find the AI feature a little more complicated than more contemporary, specialized form tools.

I really appreciate the analytics within ActiveCampaign; it's great compared to other marketing platforms and provides a lot of insights into customer behaviors. The automation tool is also fantastic, helping to free up some time, and I like that we can centralize everything across our business with the CRM platform. I would like to see more features on the email designer that enable us to be more flexible with the design part. The reporting tools look fairly basic and could be more visual. For email designer, we still have the traditional drag and drop features, but everything is still in blocks. It would be great to see more flexibility to be more creative with email setups and not just template designs. As for reporting tools, they look very old school traditional, not so much visuals.

Very good metrics provided for campaigns, but we can no longer share a comprehensive report with coworkers.  Old reports were great.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

Interface is often slow and non-responsive.  Very difficult to do basic things like archive a PDF of a campaign that has active hotlinks.  Can't copy internal employees on a personalized/segmented email.  And we had to create our own Dropbox system for all our campaign attachments. We can't search the text of campaigns anymore. Why?
Updates often remove important functionality.  How are they "improvements"?
Customer service is slow and often unhelpful.  Took me over a month to update our count of active contacts and successfully pay for it.  Online info said "paid in full" before being paid and we got mutliple dunning notices after it was paid.  
ActiveCampaign can do better - if there is the will to do so in top management.

We have become familiar with the platform and its limitations. Mostly does what we can now, but personalized campaigns are still difficult to run and have odd limitations, e.g., can't add internal audience to segmented distribution.

At CodersLink, we take advantage of every aspect of the platform and we have the dedicated team at ActiveCampaign to take our strategies to the next level.

Designing mail campaigns is very simple and its results are remarkable. Just after switching from our previous provider, we managed to increase interactions with our broadcasters by 35%, and saw a 20% increase in Open Rates.

Subscribers are much easier to manage with all the tools available and we now have far fewer disengaged users on our lists.

I love that you can import automations in one click! I’ve never seen that with any of the other platforms. That in every single other piece of software are use as a seamless integration with active campaign. Price point also makes it very competitive.

I’d like a little more drag and drop functionality, currently it’s difficult to place photos anywhere you want in an email. Also their cancellation policy is really quite bad. They charged me for an additional year and then lost my responses in tech support limbo. I'm still waiting for an access code that they sent me that's not in my inbox or spam folders no matter how many times I've requested it.

I love the all in one feel of ActiveCampaign compared to others I have used before. Staying in touch with my audience has never been easier and the email builder is beautiful as well. I love the goal setting and I feel the analytics on it makes it easy to work out what is working and what isn’t.

Gosh! It is a learning curve! Be prepared for that. Attend the webinars or jump on a call with your account manager, I pushed myself through it because I have some experience but honestly if you’re finding it tough, lean on the team cause it is a wild adventure until you can grasp it.

I love all the features around automation. It's flexible and allows me to do most of what we want to do. And the pricing for the mid-tier level that we use is competitive.

UPDATE 12/2024 - ActiveCampaign raised their prices. They did not handle the communication of this change well, and they seriously damaged my trust in them. Still a customer as I can't find a viable alternative. But I'm looking.

UPDATE 9/18/2025 - Still with them, still wishing I could find an alternative. But the cost to switch (moving everything, learning curve, etc, is higher than the cost to stay. Still looking at alternatives.

**What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?**

It's very difficult to see what's happening across the overall landscape of our implementation (this is not really unique to AC). We run a lot of automations, and unwinding them to figure out what's going when and how our subscribers are being affected is really difficult. I usually figure out after the fact. 

Also, support is not always willing to admit when there is an issue that is caused by the product rather than by the user. Like with most SaaS companies, support is mostly there for beginners and doesn't have the background to support power users as much as I'd like. 

The reporting is very limited unless we jump to a much higher price point. And the pipeline functionality is sub-optimal for corporate sales. But at least they have something.

UPDATE 9/18/2025 - the AI implementation is making this easier. I'm able to get more insight into my campaigns if I prompt it correctly. But to be honest, I'm not doing a lot with it. Not crazy about their new dashboards, but I also haven't invested the time to set them up. Not exactly intuitive.

It helps me run sophisticated funnels around events, webinars, and product offerings. We run both promotional and post sale automations. We use tagging to handle attribution. It's not good at giving us deep analysis, but I can run automations based on behavior that occurs.

I wish I could do more analysis of conversions and customer journeys. But I cannot.

UPDATE 9/18/2025 - there is a bit more insight using their AI tool, but tagging isn't a great way to document a customer journey because it doesn't seem to track WHEN a tag was added, which is a key element in understanding a journey.

On top of that, the number of integrations with other services — especially, for me, the crucial Stripe integration — makes ActiveCampaign the obvious choice. Combined with the form-building tools that I can easily paste into my websites, it really feels like there’s no competition.

It gives me greater confidence in my outreach efforts because I always know exactly where each lead is in their journey. By preventing missed follow-ups, inconsistent communication, and unqualified leads from filling up the pipeline, it helps keep everything organized. It also brings sales and marketing into alignment, transforming what used to be a chaotic process into a repeatable system.

The CRM is very good as well as the automations. Plus building email sequences is good. Easy to use, pretty intuitive.

The automations can be confusing. I have been trying to watch prerecordings from active campaign but most of the time the links that are sent to my say sorry this recording is unavailable. If you had a more robust updated library of tutorials it would help with everything.
