Easy to use. Tech support available by chat 24/7 and they speak good English and know their stuff. What really blew me away was that I messaged the CEO on linkedin, and immediately got a response. Now I don't want to overwhelm him with tons of messages from others, but that is a very, very strong statement about the company spirit. **What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?** I deleted a field, lost some data, and did not realize I could not restore it. Also, I really want an iphone app. In today's world, with all of us on mobile 50% of the time, I think an iphone app, is already essential for business users. **Recommendations to others considering ActiveCampaign:** Spend $20 or whatever it costs to start. Maybe a free trial, and jump in and see if you can use the software almost immediately. It sold itself at that point. **What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?** Easy to learn and use contact management software and automated if/then statements in email sequences. Also incredibly inexpensive compared to other alternatives that pale in comparison. ### 2. From $9 a month you can grow into enterprise quality automations, lead scoring, CRM and a mass of integrations without the pain of swopping platforms. **What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?** There are a few niggles I've found with things like date-based automations, but the pace of feature development is good at ironing these out, and the concerns are certainly no worse than other platforms in the same space. **Recommendations to others considering ActiveCampaign:** Start by plotting out a campaign on paper first. e.g what happens to an email signup from your blog up to the point when they get a sales call. This will help you get the necessary assets (copy, images, designs, downloads) in place quickly and make the best use of the trial period. **What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?** Internally we're using it to follow up on early stage leads who aren't ready or willing to get on the phone to sales yet. Alongside some Wordpress integrations It's been a big help consolidating our efforts to turn SEO traffic to our blog into an email list that we can engage with at the customer's pace. We're also using it to make sure that processes like post-project follow-up get done consistently. It also gives us a platform that we can offer to clients to put the same processes in place that cover a very wide range of businesses. ### 3. The best CRM/workflow automation tool I've found to date **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Sean T. | Director of Sales, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2015 **What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?** In order of priority: 1) the intuitiveness of the interface - I was a certified Infusionsoft partner for 2yrs and this blows it away in terms of intuitiveness of the UX from the client perspective. 2) quality and responsiveness of support - again far superior to what I was used to with IS. Response time is typically in matter of hours rather than days and it's deeper and more genuine. I've received follow-on messages from engineers on the weekend who thought through my issue and offered additional improvements that went beyond my original request. 3) Reliability of the product - with the exception of the very rare glitch in sending all my client apps run smoothly and without issue. Uptime has been flawless and email rarely lags more than a few minutes. 4) continuous improvement - their product team is on point. AC is constantly releasing feature improvement improvements and progressive enhancements. They just get it at as a company and still have the scrappy startup culture whereas IS has completely gone astray and become corporate, stodgy, beauracratic and sluggish to actually improving things. 5) their partner program is straightforward and generous 6) their culture is organic and genuine. 7) their pricing is more than fair. **What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?** Honestly there's not much I can bag on with AC. I've gotten to know many folks there over the past 1.5yrs having switched my practice entirely to their system. I'd say the greatest deficiency from my perspective right now is the lack of a good replacement for the SnapApp that Infusionsoft has. Full Contact + Zapier + AC looked promising but sadly FC doesn't expose their tag fields via the API so this doesn't yet work. Ironically, this isn't AC's issue, It's FC's issue. Other than that, I'd like to see more of a community of AC users sharing best practices tips. I'm planning to start an unofficial user group in Arizona because I believe there are enough people using it here that can share tips and I know UG's are the fastest way to advance one's skills with a product like this. The only other thing I might add is that the broken-ness of the Firstname Lastname search is annoying but I had the opportunity just this past week to chat with their COO and learn why this is. There's a perfectly valid tech reason why this is the way it is but it's a wart on an otherwise nearly-flawless product. **Recommendations to others considering ActiveCampaign:** They have a free trial. Just try it and see how it compares to whatever you're using. **What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?** I've used it in a variety of manners for my clients and myself. Here are some of the use cases: 1) for myself I use it as a hub of centralizing all the contacts across my multiple ventures and endeavors (Grid7, Survival School TV, Charity Makeover). One account handles basic lead capture and automated followup across all those ventures given how they allow you to partition things in lists. 2) for my clients I use it to do mobile marketing, email marketing, lead nurturing, promoting events and managing a pipeline of prospects. I've created a system for automating SMS-based lead capture/nurture for car wahses. I did a fully-automated system for managing breakfast networking events across multiple cities from promotion to execution. I made a system for an eyeware company that specializes in specially-formulated eyeware for folks who suffer from migraines to capture more leads and ensure customer satiesfaction by extracting Net-Promoter Score for new customers. I used it to help a DHL reseller in his cold outbound efforts to ecommerce merchants in qualifying and nurturing prospects to do phone followup. ### 4. They have really hit the sweet spot of, feature rich, powerful, easy to use and still affordable. There are so many features within the tool that it would be impossible to list them all here. However, a few of my favourites are the ability to tag contacts and then fire automated sequences based on those tags. Which really means that with a bit of thought, you can make it do just about anything. Other favourites are the lead scoring, and the new(ish) CRM and deal tracking. The free use of Zapier from within ActiveCampaign is pretty useful as well. **What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?** The only thing I don't like is that the form designer is pretty basic and ugly. Hopefully they come out with and update to that soon. However, you can work around it by using other form building tools like OptinMonster or LeadPages. **What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is well worth a look if you want to take you email marketing to the next level. ### 5. The reporting is great and its very easy to analyse and dissect. You can also send reports to staff very easily which I love. It's little usability things like this that make it such a good bit of kit. Support has up until now been very good - very prompt. **What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?** My only complain at this stage - and I would say I am using about 40% of it's capability - is the CRM leads and deals is a little basic but I am fine with that. You can create an entire automated sales funnel in minutes, including tracking setup and payment integration! I could've saved so much time! Actually, I dislike that when my free trial ended I was momentarily locked out of my account. On the other hand, the automation process is so brilliant and in terms of conditional elements, they've thought of almost everything. So it's a toss up between the two :) **What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?** Truthfully, it's hard to say... most of the hindrances I've had so far have all turned out to be human error. ActiveCampaign does a brilliant job of walking you through the platform once you've signed up using automated mini-tutorials inside the platform. I do think the form generator could allow for at least some form of customization, like colors or center alignment. The irony is their standard email templates are so professional that you can't help but want to put more effort into the content that goes into the emails. I can honestly say, Active Campaign is the best and for a fraction of the cost. Choosing what I like "best" about Active Campaign is difficult but top on my list are tagging, automations, lead scoring, site tracking, SMS and CRM sales pipelines. Oh how could I forget - I love the ability to build out campaigns and share them to my clients. **What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?** I would not consider this a dislike but some of my less tech savvy clients have trouble in Active Campaign because it does have a lot of bells and whistles. AcriveCampaign is the best - and i mean it **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Verified User in Management Consulting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) **Reviewed Date:** March 17, 2016 **What do you like best about ActiveCampaign?** i really mean it. i used mailchimp and aweber in the past. both mailchimp and aweber are solid and great solutions, no question about it, but they are missing features big time. i was looking for ways around missing features and one day was fed up. aw pro complements aweber nicely, but first of all it's 2 products, and second - in my opinion it's awkward, because overall aweber is not designed for that, and an artificial layer on top helps out, but... anyway, i was introduced to activecampaign and i loved it right away. it has everything other autoresponders have, and much much more. truthfully, till this day i've never compared prices, so i am not even sure if there is a difference in price, but activecampaign was designed brilliantly - it's just a clear winner if you look into it. if i needed only basic - simple features - then i would most probably stick with aweber or mailchimp, i wouldn't have any reason to move away from them. but once you get familiar with automation and rich features activecampaign offers - you just can't resist. and by the way customer service is fantastic - absolutely unreal. . the botton line: i am voting for activecampaign, and i doubt anybody could disagree with me after looking into it closer... **What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?** there is nothing to dislike about it. have only had very positive experience. **Recommendations to others considering ActiveCampaign:** activecampaign is a clear winner, there can't be any other opinions about it :) seriously. but the thing is - if you only need autoresponder for very basic features, like sending series of emails to your list - and you don't care about automation, segmentation, and other more advanced stuff - then it really makes no difference which autoresponder you use. pick any. but most probably one day, sooner or later, you will feel limited by lack of features and flexibility, and you'll switch to activecampaign anyway - just like i did. **What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?** too many questions here:) what am i solving? i am solving needs in autoresponding, maintaining relationship with my clients and customers and leads - and automating it all - and - very important - segmenting the audience. segmentation possible with activecampaign is far superior to segmantation possible with aweber and mailchimp (haven't experienced other solutions, so can only talk about what i know personally). ### 14. I was ready to pay 300$/mo to Ontraport or Infusionsoft before a marketing friend of mine suggested I do a trial of active campaign. And quick, timely support, they really go out of their way to help. **What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?** The email designer has made massive leaps over the last year but could have a bit more of a polished UI - that said I'd not compromise it's speed for more eye candy (I was on mail chimp, loved their UI but it was slow). ActiveCampaign totally gets the API economy. **What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?** It does quite a bit out of the box and the Zapier integrations mentioned above extend its capabilities further. However, I do wish it had a few more capabilities to round out this marketing automation platform that started off and retains its core strength as an email automation app. It lacks a content marketing editorial calendar for planning and overseeing market campaigns. Lead generation was never the problem but taking care of those folks and providing them with consistent value is what Active Campaign has allowed me to do. My conversions from subscriber to paying customer have gone up 57% by setting up content delivery automations in the last 3 months. More impressively my engagement is up 874% to the RSS based content and the repurposed, archived content that I send out through automations. I'm excited to see how this massive increase in engagement will translate to paying customers in the long run. ### 47. I am not a programmer, so I needed a more graphical look to the automation process. The flow chart drag and drop presentation when creating an automation is very intuitive. Within about an hour I had my first automation complete. I didn't start with the simplest automation (my bad) and so there was one part that was not working. A quick phone call with support and they reviewed my automation, found the issue and gave great advice. They even gave me a sincere kudos for attempting and completing such an automation for my first try. I have since created more automations and the more you do it, the easier and faster it becomes. **What do you dislike about ActiveCampaign?** One challenge we have is the issue of projects vs. contacts. Our business works based on projects and we have some clients (contacts) that have multiple projects with us. Active Campaign works on contacts not projects. So we are having a hard time reconciling this difference with our business. For example we have one client (contact) who has multiple projects (website builds) with us. So we are struggling with the issue of creating multiple contacts in AC for her based on each project (but it will require making up 10 different email addresses for her). We really need to be able to have 10 different AC entries for her because her projects are in different stages and we use tags to denote the stage of the project for automation purposes. While I don't think this is necessarily something that Active Campaign is doing "wrong", it is a unique challenge based on our needs that we have not quite figured out. **Recommendations to others considering ActiveCampaign:** Take it slow and really think through how your automations will run. You will need a good "tagging" system in place. **What problems is ActiveCampaign solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are automating our processes and taking the hard work out of our hands and putting it into a formal process that is expertly conducted by Active Campaign. When a client is supposed to complete a certain form, we have this completely automated. The campaign continues to send them reminders until that form is complete and then AC will use tags to move them into the next phase of the project.
