Action1 Overview

What is Action1?

Action1 is an autonomous endpoint management platform that is cloud-native, infinitely scalable, highly secure, and configurable in 5 minutes—it just works and is always free for the first 200 endpoints, with no functional limits. By pioneering autonomous OS and third-party patching - AEM’s foundational use case - through peer-to-peer patch distribution and real-time vulnerability assessment without needing a VPN, it eliminates costly, time-consuming routine labor, preempts ransomware and security risks, and protects the digital employee experience. Trusted by thousands of enterprises managing millions of endpoints globally, Action1 is certified for SOC 2 and ISO 27001. The company is founder-led by industry veterans Alex Vovk and Mike Walters, American entrepreneurs who founded Netwrix, which has grown into a multi-billion-dollar industry-leading cybersecurity company.

How do you position yourself against your competitors?

- Unlike many vendors offering patching as a “check-the-box” feature of their larger products, we zero in on patch management.
- We ensure uniform patching across all applications and operating systems, with real-time visibility that minimizes risks.
- Our cloud-native approach covers every endpoint, everywhere, with no bandwidth penalties, thanks to P2P patch distribution.
- First 200 endpoints are free forever: scale up at a simple, transparent, all-inclusive rate.

What do you like best about Action1?

Action1 has super simple remote connections, pushing updates, and running script functions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

Remote sharing does disconnect and gets super slow from time to time. Additionally, having more options to perhaps allow file transfers between machines and allowed in remote sharing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

We are using Action1 to monitor all critical servers and PCs within the facility. It is super important and benefiting us positively immensively as we can work from where-ever and have 24/7 access. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

Easy to navigate, clear dashboard and reporting. A large number of products are covered in the software repository, and additional products easy to add or script. Automating patching is straightforward and sufficiently flexible. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

The automated agent deployment didn't work well in our environment and the system messages were not helpful in resolving the problems. However, we used our existing deployment system to push out the agent successfully. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

Clear oversight of the compliance of our Windows fleet. We have a mobile workforce so needed a product that would work for remote users. The flexibility in forcing (or not) the necessary restarts is particularly helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

The platform is overall excellent and well thought out, which allows for a very easy to use service that just works out of the box. The outstanding set of features were a very welcome addition to our environment, allowing our lean team to mitigate vulnerabilities and deploy updates much faster, and more reliably, than ever before compared to any other tools we've tried. Deployment of the software was also a breeze using their AD Deploy tool, all of our systems were setup within an hour. I would highly recommend Action1 to any company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

At this time I have yet to encounter any downsides. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

It is providing a much clearer image of our environment, and allows us to much more efficiently deploy OS and third-party software updates. Our ability to keep our environment patched and more secure has never been as quick and easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

With under 100 users the service is free, which is significantly better than the competition we have previously used. Im finding the reporting and scripting systems to be very useful. Its really easy to manage updates for individual hosts and schedule checks of machines for banned software packages being installed. Absolutely fantastic service so far. The deployment was very simple and took very little time to go into full usage throughout our network. We use this system daily now and are able to keep on top of any issues before they arise. The simplicity of just installing a single piece of software on each end point with no configuration was a real time saver. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

So far we havent found any down sides. I would have liked to have been able to host the web interface locally, but i realise that its not a commonly offered service so i can appreciate why its not. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

We needed centralised management of our end points and action1 solves this in a very simple way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Action1?

Vulnerability visibility and remediation is a breeze! Patch management is so easy.

A1 leverages PowerShell where it can. This is great for report & alert writing.

Coming from an onsite product that worked well with local endpoints but required user VPN to work with remote endpoints, I can now support everyone everywhere!

Support is great when needed. I did need some initial help setting things up but support and our account manager made implementation a breeze. They have helped me along the way as well with scripting.

My team and I now use A1 everyday. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Action1?

I have come from another product that has certain feature that A1 doesn't have, at least some not yet.

The remote access feature is unusable, but we use TeamViewer anyway.

That said it excels at patch management and helps with sysadmin tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Action1 solving and how is that benefiting you?

System administration tasks.

Supporting remote users.

Works well with Intune devices although not integrated.

Server and workstation Microsoft patches.

Vulnerability remediation.

Compliance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
