As industry veterans, we engineered online systems for some of the largest games and platforms (including Fortnite, Xbox Live, and EA Origin). We know good tools equals better game, always. But building those tools takes a lot of time — and isn’t easy. Even experienced teams are forced to invest thousands of engineering hours on non-gameplay cycles and even then, many settle for bootstrapped platforms that have trouble scaling and are missing critical services.
