Google Cloud Deployment Manager makes it so simple to deploy a server instance. While previously we had to pay set-up fees to server providers for the same task, now it can be done via a user-friendly click-to-deploy admin panel. Customer support response time should be improved for a better experience, as the user has to rely primarily on the knowledge base, which can be a lengthy process if the issue is yet to be identified. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Consistent and easy to use control structures. Creating multiple copies of a resource with complicated conditions is a breeze when using DM's jinja templates and probably even easier in python (compare it to terraform's "use count for condition" hack or 3 different for-loop syntaxes).

Nobody uses it! In other words - Google teams actively advocate against Google's own product in favor of terraform. The consequence is a lack of development in DM and the general vibe of "we would kill that product if we didn't base Marketplace on it". I love the multiple Click-To-Deploy applications, available within the marketplace. It takes less than minutes to set up a Cloud Instance including the application fully running. Supports most of the popular Google Cloud Platform services and resource types (VMs, Cloud SQL, Storage buckets, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions etc.)

Simple declarative syntax that claims to support all forms of underlying APIs (as supported by the particular cloud service)

Ability to externalize variable or sensitive parameters as template inputs

Ability to extract outputs from the template for dealing with generated/updated resources

There is no rollback mechanism! An absolute necessity for such a resource management utility; but there is no mention of rollback in the API or docs.

Lack of proper documentation on end-to-end usage of the API; even for the usual flow (preview, submit, monitor)

Deployment Manager internally converts the template to API calls, hence there is no way to find if a particular operation is supported until it gets invoked at runtime (e.g. unlike CloudFormation which has extensive documentation on supported operations and modes for each resource type)

I love the fact that many (multiple) resources can be deployed at the same time (in parallel) within the Deployment Manager. The process is also pretty simple thanks to the template-driven features. The hierarchical view within the Deployment Manager is a feature which I greatly like also: this enabled us to view all deployments at a time, in an organized manner. There are not many things that I dislike as such. A recommendation would be to keep adding automated and 1-click to deploy features. A lower pricing on some components would be amazing also. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The template present inside the software are just amazing as it allows us the same configuration and setting before deployment to the Production environment. Because of this regression testing of before the Prod upgrade becomes quite easy and bug leaks can easily be handled and be rolled back. And the simultaneous functionality of the software makes it quite amazing and ease the working of the deployment. In the end its very well designed and the requirements are quite greatly handled. The things where it lacks are

- Simultaneous updates i.e. we can't update our applications simultaneous but we can deploy them which is one of the biggest drawback

-It needs some in depth understanding before using it as you need to be software friendly not a tech freak or you'll end up googling everything. Manuals are to be read carefully

-Poor Customer Services. The response is late and most of the times they give wrong answer or are not able to understand the questions.

I love that you're able to access this anywhere thanks to Google Cloud and deploy and go live in a matter of minutes. It's very user friendly and tech friendly too! Google Cloud Deployment Manager is great in terms of pricing as compared to other provider within the same industry. I love their free trial offer of $300 or 1 year to fully test all the features and get accustomed to the platform. They have a professional customer support. I absolutely love the user-friendly admin panel of the Google Cloud Deployment Manager. I could easily manage my VM instance from it. I appreciate the fact that it is template-driven. In simpler words, you can deploy any type of instance within clicks and seconds. No advanced IT experience is required. I also like the fact that a free trial of 1 year or $300 USD is offered. I like the flexibility of the platform , I can create and deploy virtual machines in short time plus several resources can be deployed simultaneously.
