Cloud Shell is a free terminal that you can use for whatever you want, and it runs 100% in a web browser. Seeing how most of my work requires the internet, I’m completely fine with being tied to a browser.
There is 5GB of persistent storage that is tied to your $HOME directory, and this is also completely free. There is 5GB of persistent storage that is tied to your $HOME directory, and this is also completely free. Reseña recopilada por y alojada en G2.com.
Most people developing cloud apps usually run a web server of some sort. Usually, you would run it locally and just type in “localhost” into your web browser to access it.
This is not possible with Cloud Shell, so the team created a neat “web preview” function that creates a URL on the fly to point to your local server. Reseña recopilada por y alojada en G2.com.
The interface of google cloud is very user friendly. It is easy to use and navigate. It has a fast and reliable shell and command line. The best feature is that its easily accessible because it is linked to the users google account so no further authorization is needed. There is also good documentation and its easy to share to other users. Reseña recopilada por y alojada en G2.com.
Sometimes starting the program can be slow and running certain commands can take some time. There have been instances where the program crashes and one has to refresh the browser. Reseña recopilada por y alojada en G2.com.
Google Cloud Shell is directly integrated into the Google Cloud Platform experience. It is super fast, and almost comparable to a native shell/command-line experience that you would find locally. The best part (from my experience), is that no authentication has to take place for virtual machines hosted on the Google Cloud Platform, everything is done through the user's account. It also allows you to SSH directly into servers from any browser, which is especially helpful when you want to have secure access to a cloud computing infrastructure remotely. This service requires absolutely no setup, which is always awesome. Reseña recopilada por y alojada en G2.com.
The feature-set of the Google-hosted shell is quite limited. Other than setting themes and some other basic settings you would find in any terminal, there isn't much else. The Google Shell experience could improve significantly if there was a possibility of syncing user settings and environments, similar to the way competitors like iTerm, hyper.js, and other native terminals. ok, soy nuevo en esto, pero ¡¡¡dios mío!!!!

The design of the product is very clean and sleek; it's easy to navigate and see what's where. There is admittedly a lot of information to keep track of; this would make it less friendly to an average end user, but speaking from the point of view as a developer, it's quite useful. Additionally, the use of the gcloud command line tool is very useful and I highly enjoy how easy it is to become authenticated. Reseña recopilada por y alojada en G2.com.
The connection can be a bit slow at times; it takes up to 30 seconds occasionally for the console to load. It also initially did not support many languages, but is much improved in this aspect now. Support is usually quite quick to respond when reporting bugs with the software (even though there are many, especially in the early days). Finally, it's an ephemeral VM instance, which has its own downsides. Reseña recopilada por y alojada en G2.com.
The ability to host a free website with no expenses on the free tier. Reseña recopilada por y alojada en G2.com.
I dislike that it is so complex. I feel like there should be two interfaces, one full featured and one less complex. Reseña recopilada por y alojada en G2.com.
Easy to get start since the feature is built into the console and console is full featured. Reseña recopilada por y alojada en G2.com.
