Elucidat is a powerful tool that has tons of pre-built templates and interactions. I like to say it is the happy medium between Rise and Storyline. It's not as vast and difficult to use as Storyline, but it is more powerful and harder to use than Rise.
I love how customizable Elucidat is, but you don't have to start from scratch with every course you build either. My favorite thing about Elucidat is the text entry questions. It allows learners to reflect on what they are learning vs. just having stale multiple choice questions. Setting up text entry in Storyline is always a headache, but it's a breeze in Elucidat. Social polling is a fantastic feature as well - there is a lot of power in showing learners what their peers think.
Overall, Elucidat is a fantastic authoring tool. They need to work out a few kinks with the tool but eventually I could see this tool being very comparable to Rise/Storyline in terms of quality. Reseña recopilada por y alojada en G2.com.
Elucidat has a LARGE learning curve when you are used to using authoring tools such as Rise and Storyline. The layout vs. author tab takes a while to get the hang of because different settings are available in each tab, so you spend a lot of time at first switching between the tabs to figure out where you need to go for each setting you want.
There is virtually no community for Elucidat, so you can't really Google anything in relation to how to use Elucidat and get an answer. Some of their help articles are also out of date, or don't cover the exact questions my team has had about using the tool.
The review platform for Elucidat courses is wacky. We always have issues when we send a course to a SME or stakeholder to review and they have to try multiple times before they can get in (this could have something to do with our VPN). Regardless, any review tool should not require reviewers to create an account and we should be able to send the same course link to all reviwers vs. having to put in everyone's emails so Elucidat can send an email with a link to create an account, then it allows them to review the course. We looked into several e-learning authoring systems before unanimously agreeing that Elucidat was the best choice, and we've been so pleased with our decision. The system itself is user friendly, offers a number of easy to use templates, and there are many options to engage learners with the course content. We had two main goals when investing in Elucidat: 1) Elevate our learning experiences to match the aesthetic of our brand and 2) Create e-learnings at scale, and Elucidat has helped us accomplish both those goals within our first year. I would also be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the support we receive from our Customer account manager as well as their Customer Service team. The white-glove service they've provided, starting even before we signed our contract, has been nothing less than exceptional. We signed on for the product, but we will stay for the service. We use Workday for our LMS, and the integration between the two is a bit lacking, specifically when it comes to Data Analytics (without investing in Elucidat Analytics which does fills the void). I'm also looking forward to seeing more of a seamless experience between Elucidat Author and Elucidat Create; currently, we're unable to use our brand theme and previously built Author projects in Create, which creates more manual work in the latter system. They are a really great team to work with. Like how can make variations, language differences and reviews. Also, great that it is all cloud based and we can have multiple people work on and collaborate on projects. The different permission settings available to set for people is really useful. It isn't very user friendly and intuitive to author. It is a bit fidly to try and make it look how you want it too. Especially as more advanced designers. Not having good undo capability to try things and then just go back a few steps. Frustrating to have to switch between author and layout mode to just figure out a layout. Can get time consuming to not be able to style a section/interaction then copy and paste that onto different pages (or save in a bank of styled widgets) to have consistency throughout a course or between courses. I like the user guides, as they have helped me and my team understand the programme and how to use it. They're also a good reference tool. I like how easy it is to customise courses, with colour, fonts etc. I like the templates available, which have helped me learn how to construct branching and write scenarios. The customer support is usually quick and they've helped me with most problems. I use the programme most days, and can make small updates quickly and easily. There is a lack of automation in simple tasks, like scaling for mobile screens, which makes it slower to create content. It can be difficult to select the section I want to edit too, as the small pencil buttons are sometimes blocked by other parts. It can be confusing to use, as the program doesn't always work intuitively, or functions are missing that would make it easier to use. I find it frustrating that the asset library doesn't automatically organise assets into folders for the project they were last used, or first uploaded.
