Calling All Sports Fans

Timing up with the Super Bowl in America coming up this weekend, who are your favorite sports teams and what is your favorite sports moment ever?

For me, despite growing up in Texas, my Dad is from Cleveland, Ohio and he raised me to follow his lead as an obsessive fan of the Guardians, Browns and Cavs. (MLB, NFL and NBA for those overseas).

My favorite moment was easily in 2016 when the Cavs won the NBA Finals. It's the only time any of my teams have won a championship in my life, and I watched it with my Dad on Father's Day. The day is definitely on the Mount Rushmore of my favorite days list 😀

Ah yes. So glad to see this in here from my fellow Cleveland sports buddy.

I'll agree that the 2016 Championship was one for the AGES. And I'll never forget sprinting out of the bar I was watching the game at all the way to The Q to celebrate and scream with everyone who had watched outside. The adrenaline was absolutely insane.

HOWEVER, that moment was replaced in October during the ALCS when Big Christmas hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 9th to tie the game with the Yankees. And then David Fry subsequently hitting a 2-run walkoff to win the game in extra innings. I was at the game and it was literally one of the most exciting moments I have ever experienced in my life. Of course, we came up short in the series and missed the World Series, but what an incredible moment for our young, inexperienced, mid-market team.

By the way, I just rewatched those clips, and am now sitting at my computer crying LOL.

Enjoy.

My Dad and I flew up to Cleveland for Game 6 of the 2015 Finals and watched the Warriors celebrate. So we HAD to go back in 2016 for Game 6 again, and that worked out so much better :) We were also fortunate enough to get tickets to the Watch Party at "The Q" for Game 7. I can't believe we are already coming up on 9 years since that glorious day. Speaking of tears, this was pretty similar to my vantage point that night: did someone just cut an onion in here?

Unfortunately, we also went back up to Game 6 and 7 of the World Series a few months later, where my soul was ripped out of my body and trampled upon by 1,000 elephants. Sigh.

But yes, the baseball playoffs this past year were so fun. I have probably watched those clips approximately 8,712 times since October. I also love this one from the announcer booth. My son's nanny cam in the bedroom picked up my yelling reactions to all of the big moments, and let's just say they were "emotionally charged".

Hi Brett,

Admittedly, I'm someone who knows very little about most US sports. Many years ago I was a Chicago Bears fan, as I had family there and had just visited the City. I remember being amazed by Jim McMahon (their eccentric quarterback). I then switched allegiances to the Green Bay Packers (thanks to Brett Farve). Recently, it was the New England Patriots (due to Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski) and now it's Kansas City Chief (due to Kelce and Mahomes). So essentially, someone who follows the crowd :-)

I won't stay up to watch the Superbowl, but will catch the highlights the day after and see whether the Chiefs can achieve the 'threepeat',

It's great you can enjoy the game with your Dad. Hopefully, you can have a great time together. By the way, who are you favouring?

Brett Favre was very fun to watch, and of course, had such a likeable name 🤣

I am not a fan of either of these teams, but in terms of a prediction, it would be kind of crazy to pick against Kansas City at this point. I'll take the Chiefs 26-23.

But since my team is never playing in the actual game, I use the Super Bowl as an excuse to fire up the grill and treat it like a holiday of food. High quality ribeyes are on the menu!

Hi Brett,

I hope you enjoyed the barbecue :-)

I'm not a fan of either team as well, but I wanted the Chiefs to achieve the 'threepeat'. It's always nice when a record is broken.

Alas, it wasn't to be. I didn't see the game, but from reading reports, the Eagles seemed to have dominated them and were deserved victors.

I know the 'Prez' was there and he likes football, do you know who he supports? He seems to be chums with a number of the owners and ex-owners (Robert Kradt, Jerry Jones etc.).
