# What's the candidate experience and adverse impact of technical screening on diverse applicants before committing to a platform?

Codility: The clearest documented case here, its own product description states adverse impact data is tracked at every measured cut score, the EEOC four-fifths threshold is met at every one of those cut scores, and an independent cApStAn linguistic audit checks fairness for non-native English speakers.

HackerRank Developer Skills Platform: Reviewers describe proctoring built for fairness, though one flagged a real candidate-experience problem, integrity flags sometimes trigger on "no face detected" even when the candidate's face is visible throughout the session, a false-positive pattern that disproportionately burdens honest candidates with unusual lighting or camera setups.

CodeSignal: Candidate reviewers describe the assessment experience as fair and impartial in the moment, but the platform's own reviewer base doesn't surface much detail on adverse impact measurement specifically.

HireVue: The most publicly scrutinized candidate-experience history in this list, having removed facial analysis after 2019-2020 criticism that it disadvantaged candidates with disabilities and non-majority communication styles; it now runs adverse-impact testing as standard practice.

TestGorilla: Markets itself around reducing CV-based bias through skills-first assessment, though it doesn't publish the same cut-score-level adverse impact data Codility does.

Mercer Mettl Assessments: Widely used across large-scale, high-volume hiring, where adverse impact risk compounds fastest, but its G2 presence doesn't detail specific bias-audit methodology the way Codility's does.

Has your organization asked a vendor directly for their four-fifths data, or only for a fairness statement?

I’d ask for the actual four-fifths data, not just a fairness statement. A vendor saying its process is unbiased is much less useful than seeing adverse-impact results by cut score and understanding where candidate drop-off or false positives show up.
