Best Software for 2025 is now live!

What is the best way to stop it from overloading my computer?

Sometimes during big projects, my computer will just crash as the program is too much for it to handle sometimes. Which can be very frustrating, because sometimes my recent changes are not saved and I have to start all over again.

Close 3D windows that are not being used. Hide layers, especially ones with complex 3D geometries. Reduce the polygon count of imported objects. Turn shadows off in 3D. Delete unused quick views and layouts. Convert complex meshes into morphs. We normally work with projects in excess of 1GB in file size (and creeping up to 5GB in size). Everyone is working on 16" MacBook Pros and we do not have issues with the larger files outside the expected slowness when dealing with a 3D view where we have to see all of the complex geometries and imported components.

Ensure your computer meets the recommended specifications that Graphisoft have published on their website, and otherwise rationalize the way you structure a project, if you are really pushing the limits
