i think they should release mobile application with simplified version of the desktop on with only image manupulation and for the professinals to edit on the go.
I don't see why. There are plenty of mobile apps out there that let you do lite image manipulation. Why would GIMP waste their time building a mobile app which would dump the majority of their features. Also, how are you going to do detailed image manipulation without the use of a mouse or stylus? In my experience, graphic artists and designers aren't creating advanced images from a mobile app.
I don't think they should release an app, maybe they could do it. Consider Gimp is free software. You can change its source code and distribute your changes: why should they develop an app?
It probably will but step by step. Remmember that is an open-source software! I guess it will exist one day, but not whit all the features you have in the desktop.
