Great reminder to all that we should be creating opportunities to build our references. Of course the best time to ask is when you don't need one. However, if you do I would start with your inner circle of acquaintances such as people you do volunteer work with, people you've made positive connections with (church, comm outreach, etc). If you've worked with people not just co-workers but perhaps vendors, customers, etc. , you can ask them. Good luck!

Use a fellow coworker, supervisor, colleague , or professor as a reference. Just be sure whoever you decide to use, is aware that you are using them as a reference.
