Unlike Dropbox, files are encrypted on your device and then uploaded to Sync's servers, which means that only you have access to your files (unless you choose to share them using Sync's share features). Files can be downloaded to your device(s) for offline editing (IE: you want to work on a document while on a flight or not connected to the internet). Any changes made will sync to Sync when you're reconnected to the internet.
