# How can we get all the unread chat at the top?

There was no option for the chat member names or the channel names to sort in a particular order (alphabetically and/or unread items at the top). How can that be achieved?

I ran into the same problem and my workaround was to select the option called "show all the unread" by going to File--> Preferences --> select Sidebar. At the bottom of the screen you will see the Additional Option section with the Show All Unreads. It will open a section at the top of the side bar showing all the unread messages.
