does Symantec backup exec trial version have the ability to delete files

Yes it can, if configured to do so after backing up. As a trial, BE has full functionality for 60 days

Backup Exec can be set to delete selected files when you set up a backup. It would be worth testing that to make sure you are happy with what is happening. Good luck.

Yes, backup Exec has the ability to delete files after a full backup, but it not a default option.

Backup Exec comes with full functional with 60 days trial version. If the questions is about resore the answer is yes. After the data is backed up and it is deleted for some reason it can be restored even though one is running Veritas BE trial version.
