Does a busy small business owner have time to market their company on Constant Contact? (Nope)
As "A Marketer!" ... who was actually vetting and selecting Email Marketing Software on behalf of a firm, a small business with serious list-sending needs - I found the "Be a Marketer!" campaign annoying. I'm not alone. Dear Constant Contact: Marketers ARE your target market. Don't offend them, support them. See: HubSpot's model.
I use Constant Contact as a marketing and promotional tool for my small independent consulting business and I also use it for launching surveys for my clients. It's easy to use, serves me well, and they are totally responsive when I have questions. I can't ask for more than that.
Yes. Yes, they do. Constant Contact makes it easy for small businesses to use email marketing to promote their business. The time it takes to create and send emails is well worth the investment. The whole point of this service is that it makes creating high-quality emails quick and easy.
Totally doable. It doesn't take more than half an hour to build a newsletter using one of their many templates. I work in the marketing department in a small-medium business and i send out one a week. You just gotta get all of the emails or buy a list.

I disagree- one of the benefits of Constant Contact is the usefulness of a simple excel spreadsheet with contacts- if formatted correctly you can upload the contacts into Constant Contact- send out marketing blurts and use the same spreadsheet to print hard copy labels if you are sending out something snail mail- it was pretty easy- I played around with it for a few minutes and figured it out. Main thing I spent time on was figuring out how to format my data in excel. What I did was hand enter one complete data set for a contact- then I exported it so I could use their headings in their sequence to get all my stuff in one simple sheet- upload and then save for the future. Hope this helps
You say no, but perhaps if you allow Constant Contact to do some of the work for you, you might have a bit more time to spend on all those other important tasks.
