The desktop version isn't free, but you can use the 30-day free trial to test its features. 

Because it's a pro tool, exported videos will have a watermark unless you buy the license.

No, but you can download the trial program for free for 30 days.  The only downside is all of the videos you create will have the Techsmith/Camtasia watermark on your videos.
