# Can gusto withdrawal from my bank account

While signing up for direct deposit with Gusto, it asks me to agree to allowing Gusto to transfer to (and from) my bank account. I'm not comfortable agreeing to this.

Hi Michael! This is standard for setting up direct deposit with us.

When signing up for direct deposit from Gusto, we ask that you authorize us to debit your account so that we can (i) verify your bank account with a test transaction on our end; and (ii) debit your account in the very rare case that Gusto or your employer "erroneously credits" your bank account.

Gusto won't be debiting your account outside of these two scenarios, both of which are described in more detail in our Payroll Terms of Service.

If you prefer, you can change your payment option to check directly from your Gusto account. https://support.gusto.com/employees-contractors/employee-accounts/employee-payments/1066222161/-Change-your-payment-method-to-check.htm
