I found the lack of product selection and availability, 20-year-old designs, and generally poor line output quality are major issues with VOIP ATA devices. My ancient-but-still-manufactured Cisco SP112 ATA VOIP phone adapter was very configurable and reliable (after updates), but its line output was so unuseably noisy that I was forced to abandon it. The line output quality of my USB-powered Grandstream HT801 ATA VOIP phone adapter was only a slight improvement over the Cisco, but its comparatively simplified device configuration allowed substantially less control and choices over its functions. I researched other ATAs, but so little review info is available about them that they are essentially purchasing gambles and potentially pricey disappointments.
