I use Sanity for a side project with a small content team about 3-5 times a week. Compared to AEM, which I use in my day job, it's a far smoother and more straightforward experience. Simply hydrating the frontend with form data is absolutely the best starting point for a CMS, introducing more complexity only when it's needed. It takes me a fraction of the time to write pages in Sanity compared to AEM, but the benefits scale quite well. Once we accumulated dozens of documents and started using reusing content across our pages, it all really started to make sense and speed things up. Thier content-as-data approach really gets you thinking about your content in a new way. Anything is usable anywhere, and I can't imagine a presentation layer you couldn't power with this. Once you get used to them, Portable Text (a versatile rich text solution) and GROQ (their content/data query language) are very powerful for fetching just what you need and presnting however you please. My site uses Next.js, and the integration is seamless, the Studio being just a React component. My non-technical partners have onboarded quickly to writing content in the Studio, and I'm looking forward to customizing it more help them. Compared to some CMS solutions, the pricing model is pretty intelligible and sensible. I haven't tried reaching out to support yet, but the Slack community has been helpful for me several times.
